As ‘Saul’ and Marik fought in their battle for apothecarial dominance, the seemingly invincible monstrosity turned its full attention to the red-haired rōnin; budding like saplings, appendage after appendage sprouted from the Arcbaron’s mucilaginous form.

Raining down upon the oni like a storm of fists, punch after haki-laden punch collided against Doji’s defensive posture. He couldn’t get a hook in edgewise, and he didn’t know what was happening; he’d seen weak pirates use this strange technique before, but none had been so impossible to cut apart.

A Momentary Cutaway to Kano…

Sitting upon the stoop of her mountain cottage’s patio, Hanako knelt upon her pillow, enjoying a cup of matcha alongside the rising sun, I wonder how the bastard is doing…, Hankao thought to herself as she enjoyed her solitude.

Suddenly a thought crossed her mind, and she could not help but spit up a mouthful of her drink, “...DAMN IT! DID I FORGET TO TEACH THE BOY ABOUT HAKI?” The woman’s scream echoed down the mountainside, a small avalanche breaking loose as her furious cry resounded across all the nearby villages.

Back to the Matter at Hand…

“What are you?!” Doji cried out to his opponent, a treacle of blood running from his forehead.

The Archbaron’s many-limbs retracted back into his dark and gooey body as the monster within continued to chuckle, “I am beyond you boy. There is no hope for a lesser being like you to bring harm to a god.”

“Shini-hi-hi…” the swordsman chuckled to himself resentfully, “... you truly think yourself a god?”

“Why should I not?...” now, spiked tendrils began to emerge from the pulsating mass, “... I have been worshiped as one. I am immortal and beyond harm. What else might you demand of a deity?”

Spitting a mouthful of blood to the stone below, the troll offered his retort, “Me? Well first off, a real god wouldn’t have to hide himself in some cave…” the oni readied himself for another attack as he shouted his conclusion, “... BUT IF I EVER DID MEET A TRUE GOD I’D DEMAND THAT HE KNEEL BEFORE ME!”

With this, the devil twisted his body into a spinning mass of sword slashes, his attacks grinding into his opponent’s armament in vain; though he was able to dodge most of the spikes that darted in towards him, a number of the tendrils found their mark, impaling the oni by the arm and pushing him up against the wall.

“Your pride is admirable, but without the ability to back it up it’s nothing more than arrogance. Now, submit; you are a fine tribute, and shall serve well as a component of my ascendancy.”

The oni’s hair fell over his face like a bloodied stream, sanguine liquid pouring from its ends and staining the lad’s kimono. He looked utterly hopeless, finally; the offering’s spirit had been broken, “Fine. It’s pointless to keep trying.”

Emerging from the coffin’s confines like an overgrown leech, the things “face” drew closer, opening its abyssal maw to reveal a seemingly endless cavern of teeth. It’s countless, cataracted eyes fixed themselves upon its meal, “Perfect, now join in my dream! Join in the dreams of those who have offered themselves before me. BECOME ONE WITH YOUR MASTER.”

Suddenly, impaling the creature through its head was the pair of swords; the oni had found his opening, “Shini-hi-hi…” quiet and bleeding, Doji chortled out a soft, condescending laugh before beginning to cackle, “... Yoka-ka-ka-ka-iii! Idiot.”

Drawing the blades away from one another, the giant pried his opponent’s oozy head in twain, cutting the monster down towards its middle, “You thought I’d give up that easily? I don’t care how many god damn dreams I have to crush, I’ll slaughter anybody it takes to get to that place! I am the last son of the Asakura, and I will carve our clan’s name upon the annals of history!”

“You little wretch!” The Archbaron quavered out his chastisement from a newly formed mouth, immediately, he began trying to reconstitute himself.

“You’re not getting off that easy motherfucker…” With a surge of strength, the oni pushed his blades deeper in toward the creature’s center, it seemed that from within the swordsman’s attacks could find purchase against the dissipating hardness of the creature’s flesh, “... I’ll rip you apart until there’s nothing left!”

Like a demonic meat grinder the oni began prying chunks of the monster from its form, splattering the ichor and viscera he could tear from it all over the room, “Yoka-ka-ka-ka-iii! You say you're immortal? That’s great! I haven’t had this much fun cutting something apart in ages!” The oni roared with a maddened grin plastered across his face.

Gurgling like infants, chunks of the baron began to reconstitute themselves, forming mouths to speak back to their assailant, “It’s pointless! No matter what you do, you’ll amount to nothing! Just like any other mortal man! We are all destined for the same fate! Join me and you shall be free from death!” A hint of fear tainted the  ooze “deity’s” command.

“I DON’T GIVE A SHIT! I’D RATHER DIE HONORABLY IN BATTLE THAN LIVE A LIE! KILL ME NOW IF YOU CAN GOD-CHAN!” With this bellowing warcry, the oni cut to the heart of the matter.

A scared, weak, decrepit old man hung at the heart of the sanguine mass; he looked more like a mummy than a god, whatever semblance of “immortality” this man possessed was more similar to a life-support system than eternal youth. A single, dulled emotion was visible in the corpse’s eyes: terror. With his “body” dispersed all over the room, the nobleman sputtered out one, final wheeze of a request, “P-please, spare me. I will let you go. I will live in pain. I just don’t want to die yet.”

But justice was blind to the wishes of pathetic and worthless men, “Weak kings like you are entitled nothing if they cannot defend their dominion; like you said, without strength pride is nothing more than arrogance. Seems like you were all talk with nothin' to back it up, men like you are lower than shit. Now die at the hands of your usurper,” with an unfeeling coldness to his voice, the oni sentenced the ruler to death, hacking, gouging, and prying the man apart until he was nothing more than a pile of jelly.
