Clothing and Accessories: If one asked about Silas' attire, you would be given a reply of "presentable, yet dashing." at least... how Silas acclaims himself to be. He tends to wear white-themed clothing, most notably seen in a white leather tailed coat, fur-lined along with button-dotted sleeves while underneath the coat, he wears a light-brown tight top with golden buttons three by three on the left and right by the front of the shirt, which is visibly seen through the open white coat. Along the bottom, he wears smart white pants locked in by three golden buttons with brands of black leather wrapped around his left leg, and one wrapped near his waist. The pants stops at the knee and any further view of it is blocked by the long black boots that he wears, which extends all the way near Silas' knees.
Sometimes, Silas is seen wearing a ostentatious top black hat with goggles wrapped around the lower bottom of the hat, he is also seen occasionally wearing his necklace which slightly hides in the fur of his coat.
Description: An average figure in terms of his overall body, a slim build almost bordering on toned and aside from this, the only notable feature on his body is the heart-shaped tattoo on his cheekbone.
The Past
Main Traits: Slick, Charming, Witty, Arrogant, Intellectual, Gluttonous
Likes:
- Eating: Ever since eating his devil fruit, Silas most of the time feels an irrational need to eat greasy foods, having an unusually large appetite for when it comes to his meals. While this doesn't seem to affect his body shape and remains in shape considerably, it's a habit that he does alone as he's conscious of how he looks to other people while he's eating to his hearts content.
- Set in Stone: Silas dealt with his fair share of matters going wrong, horribly. He always likes it when a plan goes accordingly and when he feels sure it won't ever go wrong. He gets more happy at this feeling than he likes to admit, but he doesn't like to repeat what happened in his past when events happen out of his control and he's always at the receiving end of it.
- Comfortable Lifestyle: As one who grew in the poor working conditions of the factories, it pushed an expensive taste on Silas to always be living like nobility. He isn't unrealistic about this and doesn't expect a red carpet everywhere he goes, but if something is expected to be in good taste and it's not, he'll certainly let others around him know. If it is in good taste... he'll still let you know.
Dislikes:
- Manipulation: If somebody is obviously being used purely for the benefit of someone else. This can be considered one of his more redeeming qualities as he hates it happening it to him, and he hates it happening to anyone else. He might seem a bit hypocritical about this at times, but whenever he makes deals with other people or "uses" them, he likes to make sure they receive something out of it instead of nothing.
- Cold Climates: This is more likely a result of his Devil Fruit, but Silas hates the cold. It makes him feel uneasy and prefers the warmer climates and if he can't have that, he prefers a hot one at least.
- Fighting: In his spare time, he trains himself and learns how to use his Devil Fruit properly in the case that one day, his deal with Cipher Pol goes sideways. He's not one to fight and would much rather sweet talk his way out but if violence is absolutely necessary, he's no stranger to it.
Unique laugh: None
Hometown: North Blue, Spider Miles
- History:
- Spider Miles:
- Silas was told of his origin early on as a child, being a bastard to a noble father but a peasant mother, he was specifically told this to derail any ambition he might've had early on in his life for living a decent life in nobility. His attempts of affection from his father only forced him to be shipped away from his hometown, which he doesn't even remember the name of and was forced to grow up in an orphanage in Spider Miles, being one of the kids forced to work in a factory. When the other workers and guards weren't looking, he sneaked in pieces of the factory into his pockets, secretly bringing them home as they fascinated him.
Given a few months of this happening, the factory eventually noticed that their objects were being stolen by somebody and a investigation pursued, with Silas being a young boy at the time, it was easy for the guards to track him down. A punishment would normally be followed, but the guards were surprised by the inventions that were in his room. He put together working, functioning gears of toys that ran on their own and when the incident was reported to the owner of the factories, he offered a position for the young Silas, to use his natural talent for him and he'd live in better conditions compared to his friends in orphanages, who were barely fed enough.
Naturally, Silas said yes and soon enough, he used his abnormal engineering prowess for the boss for a more comfortable lifestyle, one that he got used to pretty quickly and the hours were more than generous compared to the previous job of being a slave laborer for the factories for little reward.
A few years later however, a nameless silver-haired bounty hunter slaughtered many of the cities criminals including the boss that Silas was working for, it turns out that the objects he was making for only increased the effectiveness of what the criminals profited from the factories and with Silas being fifteen at the time, he was no longer just a "child" and most people believe he did it of his own free will, the new management kicked him off the island for his service to the previous, corrupt management of Spider Miles.
- Flevance:
- With barely anywhere to go, he traveled the seas alone on a rowboat. At this point, he remained unsure of his purpose in life and only served the corrupt management willingly because it was an easier living, and he had no other grand ambitions to think of. Luckily, he brought along his gear-like toys with him and played with them on the rowboat until he saw the next island.
He decided to make his own living from what he learned from the corrupt management in Spider Miles and the years he took to hone his natural talent for engineering, he tried to capitalise what he made and sold his gear toys in Flevance to which was a surprising success, many people flocked to the little run-down "shop" that Silas made for himself, as he decided to get started by selling his toys away which ran based on cogs and gears, along with a unique look to them that awed most of the residents in Flevance. He continued making these toys and in the few weeks he was in Flevance, he became somewhat of a celebrity.
He was quick to return to his old lifestyle, except he had no one but himself. There were offers of friendship along the business, but Silas was dismissive of them as he believed they only wanted to use him, similarly to how he was used back in Spider Miles.
As he grew older, he started to grow an ambition to build bigger and better objects, a particular project he wanted to try is to make a humanoid, gear-ran person and while the design of it was nailed, he simply couldn't get it to run as such a large object required something more than gears running for it to function. The first thought that came to mind was coal, but he wanted it to run for long periods of time.
Later this night, he was visited by a stranger who seemingly knew what he wanted, mentioning that he's been following Silas' exploits ever since Spider Miles and would like to "invest" in his potential. It was a cloaked figure so Silas saw all kinds of shady with him, but out of his cloak, he brought out a black-patterned Devil Fruit. He said to either sell it or to eat it, it'll help his work regardless.
The money that's given for selling a Devil Fruit naturally came to mind, but the powers that Devil Fruits offered was also very tempting to Silas, he reluctantly took the Devil Fruit and before he knew it, the figure disappeared. He spent all night looking at the Devil Fruit, deciding whether to eat it or sell it... logically it'd make more sense to do the latter, but temptation made him think otherwise... when he got crazy enough to eat it, he only took a small piece from the fruit and when he regretted his decision a few seconds later, he was already choking on a bit of the fruit and tried to spit it out but he accidentally swallowed some bits of the Devil Fruit anyway.
The next few days is when he discovered his new power, the Oil-Oil fruit. He seemed quick to pick up on how to generate the oil and that's when he got the bright idea of using Oil as a way for his project to run. He created an built-in engine for the gear-like humanoid and with oil generated from Silas' own body, it ran perfectly. It moved around on it's own and lacked any actual thought to do anything else or have sentient thought, but it was a major success in Silas' eyes.
It wasn't long afterwards for the figure making an appearance once more, unveiling himself and revealed to be a member of Cipher Pol. He offered him a choice, believing Silas to be an important figure in the future, he'd offer him benefits such as protection from the World Government, the funds to start his own business and not a small-time one in Flevance and if he were to make and give a portion of his machinations for the World Government. While Silas hated the thought of being used once more, he also knew that he couldn't stay in some run-down workshop forever in Flevance. He reluctantly agreed to this deal.
Surprisingly over the years, his business simply boomed and evolved into "Steamworks Inc." and was quick to move from Flevance towards the Grand Line, more and more people were aware of his inventions and their unique use of gears to be ran, with some being ran on Oil from himself. Whenever he got competition, they were unexpectedly assassinated or their business unexpectedly failed, to which he could only assume was the doing of Cipher Pol. In return, Cipher Pol were vague in what they wanted. "We'll come to you when we need you" yet over the many years, they never came calling. He ignored it for all these years and decided to only focus on his business, offering steampunk inventions for the general public and in the underworld, more inventions of deadly capacity.
