- Serenity's Fasion:
Known for her peculiar yet stylish garments, this young Blade Master is quite known for the two different (yet similar) outfits she uses for various occasions. On a standard day to day, Serenity dons her regular outfit of a tank top and small, leather shorts. This outfit consists of a lacy, mid-rise tank top of obsidian black with a halter neckline. At the front, too strands of the same obsidian cloth fall down to her waist in an elaborate, gold stitched design. Her shorts essentuate her curves as they simply cover up the curves of her bum. Complete with an unusual set of leather boots, her left leg has a full-rise, four inch heel while her right has an ankle length boot with a leather design that rests upon her thighs.
When in work mode, Serenity dons a silken face mask that obscures the features of her face. This provides her a viel of mysteriousness and shrouded identity when in battle. Wearing a similar outfit from her day-to-day gear, she adds in another strap of clothing that falls from her left leg. This resembles a half skirt and is adorned with the gold stiching. This falls just above her knee and is seen flying loosely as she walks. Black leather gloves are also work with this outfit which stretch all they way in full length. Along with these gloves, sleeves are also added to the outfit in order to hide her shoulders. Furthermore, both boots resemble each other in full length just a little ways above her thighs.
Description: At first glance, Seraphina Pryde is a seemingly tall, graceful woman with a slightly above average height (for a woman) of five feet six inches. Her outlook and overall balance is quite beautifully proportioned and, as to her more prominent features, one would say that her long, slender legs is the key to her overall appearance. Moreover, she has been gifted with an athletic build and muscles to prove it. Needless to say, she is quite sturdy and one to take quite the hit when push comes to shove. Despite it, she appears to be of delicate figure which has truly been a delight for her parents. After all, they wished nothing less than perfect for their potential offspring whose honor would befall on her.
Seraphina’s hair is of a silvery white color that seems to morph into a pinkish white hue when the dusk sky appears upon the heavens. As to why that is, she can only say it is simply a matter of contrast although, to the science behind it, she has no idea. Still, this seems to give her a sort of exotic appeal to her This is especially so as her name refers to the angels of the sky which could figuratively explain the mysterious her features bring.. Furthermore, her long, silken hair flows down in a beautiful cascade down past her waist. This, she allows to let loose into the wind as she feels it rids the tension of it’s weight if it were to be tied up. Still, and very rarely so, she will tie it up if need be and adorn it with flowers and the sort.
Although not quite unusual for someone of her family background, Seraphina’s eyes are of a particular design. Contrary to having a simple and regular eye color and basic design, her eyes are adorned with what appears to be the silhouette of a raven within her silvery, aquamarine colored eyes. In closer perspective and under the enhancement of the light, her eyes appear as if they are sparkling. Upon occasion, though, Seraphina’s right eye will glows a silvery black. This tint engulfs the eye completely so that you can see none of the eye's characteristics but the blackish glow. This only happens when she is under duress and or when she is studying someone or something closely.
In particular and if looked at closely, an insignia of her grandfather's legacy rests across the side of her right hand in the shape of three, tiny raven tattoos. As to the precise location of these tattoos, it would be starting from the bottom knuckle of her thumb in a curved pattern just above the wrist almost as if the birds, themselves, were flying upwards. This tattoo marks her as the next generation Pirate Hunter and holds true sentimental value to her. For, not only is it representative of her road in life, but also reveals her history if one were to pay close attention to it. Furthermore, long strands of lines enhance her body features that run across her entire body. As to why these exists, no one truly knows.
The Past
Main Traits: Stubborn, Quiet, Reserved, Adventurous, Sweet, Curious, Intellectual.
Likes:
- The Ocean: It is not surprising for the young Seraphina to be a lover of the sea. In fact, she has always found the ocean to be a bringer of fortune (as her parents had been rich merchants) as well as a soothing melody for when days were rotten (or when she had been scolded). It would only be later that the sea would become her newfound home after an incident that would cost her family’s life.
- The Ravens: Despite the superstitions that surround the idea of the ravens, Seraphina would go as far as to calling the obsidian birds her friends. Similar to a cat/dog whisperer, you could even call the young woman a bird (especially a Raven) whisperer as her whole life had been surrounded by these beautiful birds.
- Blades/Swords Despite having grown up in an environment where she was never required to lift a finger, Seraphina has found a deep appreciation for sword art. Under the guidance of her grandfather, the young woman was able to Master the swords, to an extent, and be able to defend herself where it truly mattered.
- Sweets: Although she is never one to admit it, Seraphina has a huge sweet tooth. She is particularly fond of trying those of various worlds and, at some point, even considered the life of a critic. This huge attribute can definitely be narrowed down to her great-grandmother as she had been a pastry chef and handed down her knowledge down to Seraphina before she passed.
Dislikes:
- Entitlement: Ironically, Seraphina is not one to appreciate the feeling nor actions of entitlement of the rich and powerful. In fact, despite her parent’s best attempt to spoil her, she was never one to believe she was better than anyone else. Still, it did not stop people from believing it and spawning their own judgment upon the young woman.
- Her HomeTown: When her parents perished, Seraphina was left alone to fend for herself. She had turned to the elders of the town for help, yet they turned their backs on her. Furthermore, they had taken her family lands and left her but a few possessions to fend for herself. As such, she hates them all in quiet silence, waiting for when she would end it all.
- Cowards: If there was anything in the world that she hated the most, she hated the cowards above all else. For her, they are the lowest for they are all talk and no action. They are untrustworthy and, in her opinion, someone not worth getting to know. This is not to say she considers children to be part of this group, but, rather applies this to the adults.
- Gold Diggers: Having been born in a world of wealth, Seraphina has been surrounded by ‘gold diggers’ from the start. This is something she has grown to distaste and, thus, make her less trusting of people. Especially after she was left penniless by those that were to protect her after her parents had passed.
Hometown: Maritime Bay [Uncharted Island]
Personality:
To describe Seraphina would be quite a feat for there are many things that make up this young and upcoming warrior. For example, she is one who alters her persona when situations arise where such a task is needed. Not in a sense of personality, mind you, but, rather, in a sense of playing a role and playing it well. Not one to be taken lightly, she very well is one to hold her ground despite seemingly frail and weak. This gives her a different type of respect within her environment despite the lineage she grew up in. Furthermore, even if one were to believe that they had gotten close to her and/or even unlocked the entirety of her well-guarded secrets, they would be dead wrong. Undoubtedly graced with both beauty and poise, it would be quite unfortunate for someone to underestimate her due to her looks and appearance. For, unlike most of those originating from a wealthy and prestigious background, Seraphina has a brilliant mind and a bucket load of attitude and sass when she needs it most. Needless to say, she was raised to be a woman of class and, although she never quite enjoyed it, she learned to play the role well.
Yet, if one were to describe her in one word, they would most likely label her to be a woman of calm demeanor and state. An interesting choice of words, but true nonetheless. Seraphina is a woman who keeps her cool and is one to not act rashly upon her emotions. This can blatantly be seen when in a state of being provoked for Seraphina is the type of women to hold back her anger and endure it. To turn the other cheek, per say. She may not like the situation, but she always has her mind search for the opening. In fact, it is quite remarkable that she is able to hold her tongue well and takes the verbal beating despite the anger she feels. Still, it is not to be mistaken that she will not take action. No. She waits until the perfect opportunity to take justice into her own hands and, thus, making them pay three-fold for what they've done. To delve deeper into this, she is one who plots and plans behind the scenes seemingly like a hunter searching for its next prey. Through this, she is able to follow through with whatever it is she has planned without an pinch of blame to fall back on her. This makes her quite dangerous and, as such, makes it hers reconsider getting on her bad side.
On the other hand, in a time when things are peaceful and serene, Seraphina is a woman who loves to read and write. She is quite the intellectual with her eidetic mind as nothing has stood in her way of her learning (besides the occasional villager and her Mother, of course). Furthermore, her home by the sea has allowed her to be one to know ways of the wind as well as the consumables versus nons. After all, she had been forced to survive in the 'wild’ for quite some time. Still, she lacks in the way of knowing how the world outside her home works as she was never allowed to go outside of the bubble placed upon her. This can make her seem naive as there are some topics she has only learned from books and never from true experience. Due to this, her thirst for adventure has thrived tremendously although she has some precautions about leaving her home. In some ways, it can be said that fear is what holds her back. She, on the other hand, would call it absurd and scoff it off. During these times, when one has come to understand her, she comes off as soft and vulnerable.
Although having never been introduced to the concept and aspect of love, one can only assume of Seraphina’s actions if she were to be in a love story of her own. To say the least, depending on the scenario, one would consider her docile and sweet ashe wouldn't have to defend herself against them. This is not to say she wouldn't have sass when need be. Furthermore, having been a survivalist for many years has earned her a streak of being truly independent so she wouldn't be one to rely on her partner. Still, situations are bound to change and, quite possibly, so would her outlook of help (maybe). For sure, Seraphina would be a woman who would put on a strong front although, with someone she could trust, it could be speculated that she would rely on them. Even if it were just for a little while. After all, she has never held an experience of trust so it would take a while for her to do so. Needless to say, Seraphina isn't someone who makes friends easily as her past has never allowed her to get close to anyone. She views people as untrustworthy and definitely not worth getting to know.
In battle, Seraphina is ruthless. During these times, she is able to unattach herself from her everyday realities and let loose her fury upon her foes. This, unfortunately, does not go well for her enemies as they will suffer under her hands. Furthermore, it, along with sparring, also provides the perfect opportunity to better her sword art skills as well as perfect them to the best of her abilities. Still, she prefers to stay behind the scenes and observe from the shadows before striking the unwary. This makes her a perfect covert-ops gal, although she has no problems heading to the front lines. If anything, once Seraphina’s loyalty is gained, it is gained for life. She is not someone to back away from a promise nor is she one to pretend it never existed. For Seraphina, owning up to words is crucial for although she trusts no one, she makes sure people trust her. For the young Blade Master, continuing her Grandfather's legacy is of prime importance. After all, it was grilled into her from the moment she was able to walk. As such, she cares not for what others believe in her and, as such, allows her actions to speak for themselves.
- History:
”All in due time, child. All in due time.”
“Again!” Strike after strike and blow after blow, a parry of hits would rain down upon the small, frail child. “You need to be more focused!” And so, the onslaught upon the girl continued to fall harder and faster for, despite the best of efforts, nothing would help the girl better her outlook of the practice. Soon, angered shouts would ring across the courtyard as the child would shrink back and barely attempt to fight back. “Do you want to grow up useless and pathetic just like your MOTHER!?” It would be those words that would snap the young Seraphina’s mind from the trance she had been in. Useless? Pathetic? She thought not. She would rather be anything, but that. With pursed lips, she would shake her head furiously and proceeded to fix her battle stance. If this could help her become much more than just a useless and simple heiress, then she would obey his every command. This earned her Grandfather to reward her with a big smile. Confused, the tiny Seraphina would only beam back and keep her weapon at the ready. If she could make her grandfather proud, she would do what he said. After all, there was no one in the world her understood her more than he.
~
Days would pass and the training sessions would become harder and harder. Yet, the small child continued to prove herself and show great promise. This, in turn, allowed her Grandfather to proceed faster than anticipated. But, with the greater workload, it would be no surprise that she would come home bloodied and bruised. During those days, a great fury would overcome the home and a tension would continue to build between the Father and Daughter. “Father, she's just a child!!!” Her Mother would scream in frustration. “She isn’t as strong as you!!”[/b] Seraphina would simply look down at the ground as her Mother and Grandfather fought. It was always the same when she came bloodied and bruised. For, despite her Mother's best efforts, no practice ever went as she had hoped. “Evelyn, she's a Pryde!” He would retort. “Someone needs to carry that legacy and it obviously isn’t you!” The child would only sigh as she rested against her Grandfather’s leg. Being but a small child, she knew it was better to not speak and hold her tongue. Sure, she wished she could defend her practices, but, deep inside, she also knew her Mother spoke the truth.
Her Mother would pace back and forth, clearly irritated by her Father’s remark. “So what? Sometimes, it’s better to let it die down than bother to continue this idiocracy!” Seraphina froze and glanced up at her Grandfather in worry. The Pirate Hunter legacy was her Grandfather’s pride and joy. One which he protected with his life and, even if blood insulted it, he would not be one to show mercy in the least. This would suddenly become clear to Seraphina’s Mother, yet she showed no signs of backing off. In fact, she edged up on with her glare and haughty stance. Seraphina would only tug at her Grandfather’s sleeve in hopes to calming him down. SHe would then sigh as she looked down at the ground in fear that her Mother’s anger would turn towards her. It would take a few moments before the rough palms of hands would pat her head as he took in a deep breath. “I’m taking the child with me,” was all he said as he gently pushed the small child towards the door. “I’m taking her whether you like it or not.” Following the push, Seraphina would fall into step with her Grandfather -never once looking back. If this was her ticket out, then you would take it wholeheartedly. Even if it meant to leave everything behind.
While her Mother stood in stupor, Seraphina and her Grandfather walked out in a slow, yet steady pace. She would say nothing and so she let her mind wander in countless directions. She knew that in her Grandfather’s mind, his only daughter had grown up a failure to the family name. He was Pryde. A Pirate Hunter, feared across the lands. It was his legacy and one he wished to pass on to his offspring. Yet, it would not be the case as it would fall down to her -his granddaughter. After all, as far as her Grandfather knew, his only daughter had run away and eloped with a wealthy man of the district. Not because of love, mind you, but because of the riches he had promised her. This had appealed greatly to her Mother as she had cast aside all the hard work her Grandfather had done and had brutally stepped upon the legacy he had hoped to preserve. Therefore, the young child knew she had no choice for he could only hope that she would carry his name. Still, she did not mind in the least. She was happy to train and perfect her technique. So this would provide the best of opportunities to do so. And so, they walked on and on, but, in time, she realized that her Mother never came for her.
~
Several years would pass while Serenity lived under her Grandfather’s roof. She never truly looked back at the place she came from, instead focusing on helping out her Grandfather as much has she could. Yet, it would not be long before her Grandfather had grown much too old to be able to hold on for much longer. Still, he went on his frequent missions so much so that she had not realized the magnitude of it until the day she would receive a fateful call -one that would change her life forever. For, during one of her Grandfather’s missions, she had been left at home to care for the house and tend to the livestock all the while practicing her sword art for when he would return. Yet, it would be that fateful night in which he never returned. It would be the day after that she would receive the news of his death. When the message came, no one would ever tell her how he had died. Instead, they gave her the bare minimum of the occurrence. No details were ever given to her. Furthermore, noticing that she was but a child, they asked for the residence of the home only to find out that she had been alone for quite some time. This caused a huge discussion between the messengers as to what to do next.
Rather than to leave her alone, they gathered up her belongings and took her to her Mother’s home. The very woman who had never bothered to look for her for those many years. This did not make the young Seraphina happy, yet she did as she was instructed. Returning to live with her parents was not something she had been looking forward to, but she had no choice. Contrary to what she had expected, her Father stood at the door in tears of her return. After all, he had been told that she had been killed during one of his voyages and the funeral had proceeded right after. This, though, did not cause a strife between the family and life went on smoothly as any rich family would. Still, Seraphina longed for the adventure and unknown, feeling like a prisoner in the place she had once called home. Her Father would take notice and gifted her three blades (Luna, Valkyrie, and Sol) which would later become her signature weapons. After all, for him, although he never understood the need she felt to train as a Hunter, he could relate to her wish for the great deep blue. And so, he dedicated himself to teach her his trade as a merchant in hopes that she, too, could take after him.
Seraphina worked under her Father, enjoying the work he did, although she was never allowed to step onto a boat -courtesy of her Mother. Still, the work flourished for many years and Seraphina would soon forget the call for the unknown. Upon reaching the age of adulthood, her Father decided to do something special. Boarding his ship, he bid adieu to his wife and child, promising to return in three months time. He never did. Word came months later to her Mother that her Father had perished under the hands of pirates. It would turn out that they had been the same ones who had murdered her Grandfather causing anger and hatred to build within the young Blade Master. Seraphina would then ask for the locket, one she had made her Father promise to return to her when he returned, only to find out that it was never recovered. Frustrated, Seraphina could only turn to her swords -swearing that she would kill the crew who had taken her beloved family away. Yet, she would never make it out of the island as her Mother made sure of that. Still, Seraphina practiced day in and day out until the day she would encounter them. She would kill them. She swore she would.
~
It had not been half a year since her Father’s passing and her Mother was off and about in the partying field. It had grown to be a routine for Seraphina as her Mother would bring lover after lover into their home. During these times, she would escape into the night and practice her sword art by the shore. Her life, though, would not be the same for it would drastically change once her Mother decided that she had reached a [s]marketable[/s] eh… marriageable age. At first, it started with family introductions which led to extravagant parties that put the young woman in display. Seraphina would soon start to hate the life she lived, resulting into the fury of her Mother and the yells of her soon-to-be step-Father. Still, the young huntress refused to back down and, in a spur of the moment, was beaten by her step-Father and cast out by her Mother. This was the point of no return for Seraphina and, in a way, she was grateful for it. Sneaking back into her house, she went into her room and retrieved her blades and a small suitcase filled with her life treasures. With the funds her Father left behind for her, she took it with her and hid it within the island. After that, she never looked back and headed for the village.
Although Seraphina had not expected much, her expectations were more than shattered upon her arrival. Instead of being left alone like she had hoped, she was cast aside and bullied by those within the village. Hoping to seek shelter, she found none as the establishments would be closed to her face. Food nor water was offered leaving Seraphina truly alone and abandoned to care for herself. Still, she made do as she left for the caves within the village’s shore. There, she made her home and made do with fish and fruits she gathered along the coast and meadows not far off from where she was. Although it was not a life she had lived previously, it did not bother her in the least. It gave her the solidarity that she had wanted and provided her ample time to practice her techniques. Still, she sometimes hoped that something would change for the better and change it did. Not only would her Mother become penniless not a couple years later, but pirates would make their way into her tiny island. An island she had grown to distaste. Still, waiting for them to land and her cherished blades strapped in case occasion arose, she made her way to the village out of sight to see what they would do.
That action would seal her fate. After all, it was the day she met the Primetime Pirates.
