Dante Ryseli
Basic Character Information
Starting Bonus: Super Rookie | [Starting Bonus Roll]
First Name: Dante
Middle Name/Initial: L
Last Name: Ryseli
Epithet: Harbinger of War
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession: Demolitions Expert
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 170lbs
Hair Style: Wild and unkempt
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Grey
Scars: There are burn marks across his body
Clothing and Accessories: The entirety of Dante's outfit is primarily dark. His baggy black pants reach above his ankles along with a dark coat with a white trim that rests over the only lightly colored thing in his outfit, a white shirt. His shoes match the bland color of the majority of his apparel. A studded belt is used to keep his pants from slipping.
Description: Dante is a scrawny young boy that really had no reason to gain too much muscle. His dark hair is wild and unkempt much like his devil fruit. The most striking appearance on his body has to be the burn marks that are purple and deeply wrinkled. The borders between those areas and the rest of his skin, smooth and pale, appear to be held together by medical stitches from some hospital. The stitches on his face give off the appearance of a permanent grin due to them starting from the corners of his mouth to above his ears.
The Past
Main Traits: Chaotic, Unpredictable, Unrelenting, Hot-Headed
Likes: Explosions, Warfare, Strategy, Flashy Moves
Dislikes: Normality, Peace, Marines, Arrogance
Hometown: St. Poplar
Personality: Within combat, Dante is a strategist at heart. He believes the best way to win a battle is to catch an opponent off guard. Surprise attacks and hidden motives can create openings in enemy tactics that allows flexibility for yourself and frantic actions by the enemy. Things that allow surprise would be the likes of hidden objects, guerrilla warfare, and his favorite, distractions. Hidden objects could be anything from actual people themselves to plans unbeknownst to enemies. Hit and run tactics are extremely useful against highly trained armies that can't think for themselves and are useful to the underdogs. Distractions poke holes in the enemy's attention which allows other plans to unfold. Explosives are highly effective in this area with the added benefit of possibly killing others and causing confusion. He also makes an effort to be erratic, never repeating steps taken unless for a precise reason. This unpredictability makes him highly dangerous.
Outside of combat, Dante finds himself in a state of being bored. He understands that patience is key but the false peace and tranquility that the marines and world government display leaves him restless. If he isn't thinking of different possibilities or doing something to keep him busy, he finds himself hardly sitting still. He likes to stir up conflict and create tension in order to inspect his own capabilities and those of the ones around him. He can be rather hot-headed when it comes to marines and failed plans which often lead to grudges that he holds on to. He will not forget and nor will he give up on those grudges being solved. He pokes fun at those around him and if they comment about it being harsh then he retorts with the fact that life is harsh as well.
- History:
When Dante was born his mother fell ill from the birth and inexplicably died soon after. No official statements were given of the possibilities of her death. His father hardly spoke of her and Dante took that as an unspoken rule to not speak of her. He did not know her and nor did he remember anything of her. He was content with this and chose to follow in his father's footsteps. His father was an official that was stationed in St. Poplar. It is said that it was turned into a Marine Base for several unknown reasons to the public. His father was a high ranking officer in the marines that dealt with strategical affairs and using the marine men to his advantage. His father was entrusted with a particularly strong advantage that could prove useful to the marines. They had found a devil fruit and confirmed the powers it held within. Dante's father was entrusted with its care until a worthy marine could take hold of its power. Dante's father kept it inside his study room where he and Dante would look over and go through strategy together. Battle plans and formations were drawn up with tabletop board games used as the simulation for these fake battles. As Dante grew older his personality grew stronger and the need to know more of warfare had persisted stronger than before.
Dante would enter his father's study while he was out on business trips or taking on missions for the marines. While he was in the room he studied over his father's plans and books for knowledge. One day his father had left him alone like any other time before. This time however, he had gotten carried away in his father's room and had been reading the excerpts for far too long. Time had slipped from his mind until his stomach's growl had snapped him back to reality. He was unbearably hungry and did not want to have to make anything to appease his hunger. The fruit on the desk seemed enticing from the unique design of it. He had never seen any other fruit like it in the world. Thinking his father wouldn't be so made if he had ate it he took a bite into it. The taste was exploding in flavor. It washed down his mouth from the juice that erupted as soon as he took his bite. He knew his father would be capable of buying another fruit just like it so he would wait for his father's return to ask for just that. When his father arrived though he seemed awe struck and frantic, like the sound of him eating a simple fruit was a horrible act. His father quickly explained to him the fruit of which he just ate, its powers, the negative effects of such powers, and the grave situation he had put them in. Quickly ordering three marines loyal to only himself, his father sent his son off to the Great Blues. They had less marine activity due to pirates constantly traveling to The Grand Line. He would not be immediately discovered and he may be able to help make matters better with him being away.
A while after he had been sent away, the three marines told Dante of the affairs of his father and what had happened since his absence. The marines took this offense as treason and executed his father in punishment. Dante was now a target of the marines as well as those protecting him. The three that followed him to the Blues were dishonorably discharged from the service and targeted as well. The ex-marines tried to keep Dante from the immediate attention of the marines and those around him, but his natural personality, his grudge for the marines that killed his father, and his need to experience his powers had quelled any attempts of doing so.
