Tom is one of the true "Shock troopers" of the 45th Shock Battalion, he wears this armor 24/7 and is very rarely seen outside of it, it's like his own skin at this point, fellow soldiers even think he's a cyborg of some kind.
He is 6'8, many consider him a scary sight with his shock trooper armor and tall height.
NPC background: According to what intel gathers, Tom is a victim of a pirate invasion when he was young, his entire village was burned and he just barely survived himself, Ryuji's mentor picked up Tom and recruited him to the 45th, with Tom's determination, he was considered to be the first candidate who could have the potential to survive the extreme training program for a "Shock Trooper", a new program in the 45th Shock Battalion that tried to transform normal soldiers into super soldiers. Previous attempts failed as either soldiers didn't have the will for it, or lacked the physical strength that was needed.
Tom had both necessities, having a strong will after what happened to his village, and having the proper genes to naturally be a brute in strength and endurance. After a rough training program that lasted from his childhood to his adulthood, the test was considered both a success and a failure, Tom definitely was stronger then the average human, but he was still slightly less stronger then some superhumans in the seas. While the higher ranks didn't know what to do with him at that point, he continued to serve anyway, and took a hobby of learning about ships in general, he felt a bit too inhumane after the training and decided to be more "human" by taking a hobby, he eventually became a shipwright. In social situations however, he's a man of a few words. He isn't shy, but doesn't say more then he needs to, to the point that he only grunts, nods or shakes his head in agreement or disagreement, and only says as much as he needs to in sentences.

A man who is always seen wearing his metal armor, shield and axe. Outside of his armor, he has a full-grown beard and long black hair. With his armor, he is fully covered in metal armor and wears a kraken-styled metal helmet, based after his nickname "Kuro the Kraken"
NPC background: Kuro has a mindset for strategy and naval combat. It's how he earned his nickname "The Kraken", he has been in many naval combat situations and won nearly every single one of them. In relation to Ryuji, Kuro was the one who took Ryuji in after seeing his power and made him join the 45th Shock Battalion. Despite Kuro's many years of experience and being older then Ryuji and many people in the 45th, he's never gone higher then Captain as he believes that it would take away his love of naval combat.
However, he still believes in a younger generation of marines to eventually take over and lead the marine forces to a higher stage point,
hence why he took Ryuji in, and why he doesn't advance any higher in rank as he also wants to instruct and teach younger generations. He is known to have a love for the ocean and isn't afraid to swim in it, even when there are sea kings around.

Wed Jul 26, 2017 10:03 amOi! Nice work with the NPCs. I just have a couple of suggestions. For Captain Kuro (hah! Totally nothing like the canon Captain Kuro), you should change his position to something else. Making him first mate might turn other players off from wanting to join your crew. You should generally try to reserve the higher positions in your crew for actual player characters.
Secondly, in a marine crew, the second-in-command's position wouldn't usually be referred to as "first mate" but something like "chief officer" or "first officer". However, in practice, marines would still address him by his militaristic title, not the position he holds on the ship. So, if he is a Captain in the Navy, he'd be referred to as "Captain Kuro" (that part you got right).
Same goes with all other crew members in a marine crew. All of them would be addressed using their proper rank in the navy.
