He has "dead fish eyes" which are called such because they are nearly always half-lidded giving him a constant lazy appearance. His standard outfit consists of a white yukata with a blue swirl pattern on the bottom and ends of the sleeves, worn so that his arm only goes through the left sleeve, and the right half droops down over his obi. Over this, he wears a black belt buckled so that there is leftover dangling from the buckle, from which his weapon is tucked. Underneath, he wears a black, red-lined shirt with a popped collar and black pants. He also wears knee-high black boots, buckled at the top and above his foot, which appear to add about half an inch to his height. It is shown that he has a closet full of duplicates of this outfit, so whenever it gets destroyed, he can appear in the next episode or chapter with a new one. All in all, his outfit suggests an air of laziness, and may be a reflection of Dax's own personal sense of style.

Personality: Dax seems to be very laid-back and easygoing, speaking rather slowly and occasionally drawing out the last word of his sentences, which is strange considering this behavior is in direct contrast with his Devil Fruit power which is one that has the potential to inspire great fear misery and death among any unfortunate to encounter it in battle. He takes everything lightly regardless of the severity of the moment. At time when he uses too much force he will acknowledge this fact to himself by thinking out loud as he sometimes does on a whim. Usually, his manner of speaking is slow and lax, frequently beginning sentences with a drawn out "Ooh" (generally upon observing something that has piqued his interest), and ending them with a drawn out "Ne".

He is also completely calm and cool-headed, even in tense situations. He speaks in a politely sarcastic manner and is very mocking towards his enemies for being too weak. He often taunts and belittles his foes in and out of battle. Unfortunately for the World Government, he can be quite absent-minded and irresponsible, judging by the fact he can use a lot of power . He also seems to prefer his own name, Dax, rather than his alias.

If nothing else, Dax appears to be more lax than his colleagues as he could completely drop a matter, his attitude regarding it being that of a carefree reaction.

However, while he never has expressed any sympathy for or against the philosophy of Absolute Justice, Dax careless behavior displays a lack of mercy towards his enemies, particularly pirates whom he has targeted. Dax can even decide to apprehend a pirate who had retired from piracy no matter how long it was ago, simply because, as a Pirate, his crimes could not be forgiven. Also, he sees the Shichibukai as nothing more than pirates, even if they are on the World Government's side.

Dax often comments that some of the abilities of his opponents are quite frightening and during battle he can feign fright from a an enemy. Since Dax always delivers such admissions of fear with a deadpan expression on his face and his usual lackadaisical tone of voice, it is never clear if he is mocking his opponents or if he is being serious.
