Dogo Dogo no Mi
Devil Fruit: Dogo Dogo no Mi (Bonk-Bonk Fruit)
Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
Devil Fruit Appearance:
- Spoiler:
Above: A common scene of a Dogo Dogo no Mi user after attempting to use “Crackle” to warm up on a cold night at sea. Please Bonk Responsibly.
Seeing how the fruit’s only deviation from resembling a luscious, freshly-picked golden cherimoya is the glaring contrast of black swirls with red blotches at their center, alongside the classical swirly stem, it’s almost no surprise Zong ate this conspicuously isolated temptation in an absentminded fit of hunger. Almost.
Devil Fruit Description: The user becomes a Bonk Human, gaining the ability to write a sound effect on a solid surface, from stone to skin (although Seastone is an exception), and create a short-lived corresponding effect either to or from that surface. For example, “bonk” creates a light impact, while “sparkle” lets the surface surrounding the writing glow brightly. Most sound effects are contextual, requiring Techniques to use their effect as desired. Once a surface is written on and activated, the written effect lasts until the end of the round (Unless stated otherwise below).
Besides the typical Devil Fruit weaknesses, Dogo Dogo no Mi’s powers invariably require the user to make physical contact with the surface they want to affect, down to writing the sound effect on the surface they want to affect. Because of this, the user is also not immune to the adverse effects of their own abilities - it is entirely possible for them to accidentally hurt themselves or become distracted from their own sounds. Writing from the Devil Fruit can also be distorted to the point it becomes illegible, or fragmented, rendering a sound effect useless—this includes altering the surface’s state of matter. Logia Devil Fruit users are practically immune to being written on for this reason. Lastly, the writing can dissolve by coming into contact with water.
Devil Fruit Passive Abilities:
Ambient Noise: Once a sound effect is written, the respective sound in question plays at low volume in an endless loop. These ambient noises can serve as a distraction, but may also give the user’s position away against perceptive foes if trying to be stealthy. It is possible to muffle the noise by concealing the affected surface. At Tier 2, ambient noise can be suppressed at the user’s will.
Fighting Style: Urusai! Please Bonk Responsibly
Weapon Utilization: Cuffs, Bare Hands, 1v1 me ya pansy
Specialization: Extreme Melee Focus
Description: A semi-martial arts style developed while training under the Marines, Zong makes liberal use of Dogo Dogo no Mi’s ability, both for augmenting physical techniques and for creating obstructions in her direct vicinity. In addition to this, Zong has begun to devise a series of sub-techniques which pace themselves to a tempo (which some techniques can change for catching an opponent off-guard), called “Rhythm Heaven.” However, some of Zong’s ideas can be a bit . . . self-destructive.
Techniques
- Light Attacks:
- Seven Year Breeze
Technique Level: 1
Technique Range: Melee / 10m
Technique Cooldown: 2 posts | 1-post duration
Technique Description: Zong places the sound effect “Whoosh” onto a within-reach surface, meant to evoke a sudden gust of wind. If used on a non-clothing object, “Whoosh” does exactly that, creating a bursting air flow from the object powerful enough it can push people with Defense <75% of Zong’s Attack off-balance, and knock those with <50% off their feet. If used on herself or another person, it grants a brief, sudden increase in their running speed and jumping ability, boosting Reflex by 50%, but disorients the recipient, decreasing Defense by the same amount.
It also happens to be a great skirt-lifter. In fact, if Seven Year Breeze is being used for the sole purpose of lifting skirts (by putting “Whoosh” on the skirt, of course), Zong can use it as often as she likes!
Cacophony Concerto
Technique Level: 1
Technique Range: Melee
Technique Cooldown: 6 posts | 3-post duration
Technique Description: Zong slaps the target with a loud, self-perpetuating sound effect meant to disorient the target until it goes away on its own - like the “Reeee” of a screaming frog, or the “musical” notes of her most hated instrument, the otamatone. Does no damage beyond what damage the slap itself provides, but is incredibly annoying - both for the target and Zong. The target suffers a 30% penalty to Reflex, and Zong a 15% penalty Reflex and Willpower as she questions the wisdom behind her action.
- Medium Attacks:
- Some Like It Hot
Technique Level: 1
Technique Range: Melee
Technique Cooldown: 8-12 posts | 1-2-post duration
Technique Description: Zong imbues her cuffs with the sound effect “Crackle,” which can represent a spreading fire or sheet of ice, and whips her cuffs at her target with the intention of them wrapping around an the target. She then activates both cuffs’ “Crackle”, one consistently burning the wrapped area while the other becomes freezing cold. The disparity in temperatures does consistent damage to the wrapped surface until the cuffs loosen their grip, but also compromise Zong’s mobility and ability to defend herself from other opponents, lowering her Defense and Reflex by 15% each until the target is released.
- Heavy Attacks:
- Rhythm Heaven
Technique Level: 1
Technique Range: Melee
Technique Cooldown: 12-20 posts | 1-3-post duration
Technique Description: And the first of Zong’s Rhythm Heaven techniques is aptly called . . . Rhythm Heaven. Nobody said she was good at making creative names.
Zong imbues her fists with the sound effect “Bonk,” and her cuffs with “Wham,” and assaults the enemy, following an aggressive and upbeat presto tempo with a “¾ (triple) time signature,” adding up to 3 “beats” where her “Bonk” fists make a weak half beat, while her “Wham” cuffs are a stronger full beat. Consequently, Rhythm Heaven could comprise of 6 “Bonk” punches or 3 “Wham” cuff slaps, and any combination in between, but the end result is always comprised of a total of 3 beats. Rhythm Heaven can be maintained for up to three posts, but as Zong is focused on following Rhythm Heaven’s time signature, it prevents her from using any other skill in the same post unless she is interrupted using a technique specifically designed to cancel Rhythm Heaven, or she is forced to stop by an enemy’s attack.
Augmenting her attacks in this manner, Zong’s Attack increases by 30% during Rhythm Heaven’s duration, but afterward, the exertion quickly and fiercely catches up to her, lowering her Reflex by 30% for the same amount of time afterward.
- AOE Attacks:
- Thunderstruck
Technique Level: 1
Technique Range: Melee-10 m
Technique Radius: 2.5 m
Technique Cooldown: 20-30 posts
Technique Description: Immediately after striking the target, Zong writes the sound effect “Zap” where they were hit and activates it to deliver what feels like an electric shock, simulating an effect not unlike a Mink’s Electro. Zong can also write “Zap” on herself and activate it; while this deals medium damage to her as well, the electric current will leap out towards the closest enemy in range to deal the same amount of damage to that enemy, then jump again to all other enemies in a 2.5 meter radius for light damage, increasing its cooldown in the meantime. As one might assume, Thunderstruck can deal double damage than normal if part of the target(s) is submerged in water, while doing no damage to target(s) wearing an electrical insulator, like rubber.

Since we couldn't find an onomatopoeia for awesomeness, my generic seal of "good enough" will have to suffice.

Since your fighting style is still running on the old system, you might have a huge handicap! So, I'm unlocking this thread so you can update it using the new template provided here.
