Personality: Ever since he was a child, Minoru was taught to follow a path of righteousness. He carried those teachings with him when he joined the Marines, prioritizing in doing the right thing while protecting the innocent. He is not a fan of orders that violate his form of Justice and will outright refuse them unless he has no choice but to accept them. If he is forced to follow an order that he considers as unjust, he will often find creative ways to interpret those orders. Although he isn't a fan of pirates/criminals, he is willing to work with them when necessary and only if he believes that they are doing the right thing. After the necessity of working with them is over, he will hunt them down just the same.
He views the Marines in a positive light, but is well-aware of the corruption present within the Marines. He is extremely loyal to those he calls friends and his subordinates. Although he trusts easily, he hates it when people misuse or betray his trust.
In battle, Minoru tried to avoid fights in heavily-populated areas or places where civilians can be placed in harm's way. He tends to go all-out at start and tries to end fights as fast as possible. The only expection to this rule is when he faces swordsmen as he simply wants to test his skills against theirs.

Minoru was born in Shimotsuki Village to a pair of simple rice farmers. Growing up, Minoru spent most of his time helping his parents with small tasks or playing make-believe games with other children. Minoru was quite content with the life that he had but he always felt that something was missing.
When he was 14, he was able to witness a swordsman training in a forest. Curious, he decided to watch as he never saw a real swordsman training before. Right in front of his eyes, he saw the swordsman cut an entire tree in half with just a simple draw of his sword. That display of power shocked him to his core. After that incident, he declared that his purpose was to be a swordsman just like that man he saw.
But his path to become a swordsman was a difficult one. He tried to look for someone to teach him by visiting the dojos scattered across the village but he was denied training as they believed that he had no talent or wasn't truly worthy of their teaching. These string of rejections didn't deject him but made him more serious about his goal to become a swordsman. He decided to "train" by himself by secretly watching the training in the dojos and mimicking the movements using sticks that he found. Although his "training" truly didn't help, he continued doing it in an effort to show his dedication.
His efforts were finally noticed by an old swordsman named Maruboshi. Impressed by his dedication, Maruboshi decided to take Minoru as his last pupil. The training he underwent could simply be described as hellish but Minoru preserved through it. When he turned 18, his training was abruptly halted by Maruboshi who simply stated that he taught everything he knew to Minoru and it was his turn to learn by himself by traveling the world. After the sudden end to training, Minoru decided to heed the words of his teacher and leave the village. Using the boat that his parents gifted him, he sailed out into the unknown.
But traveling by sea without any experience doesn't turn well for anyone and Minoru was caught in a storm on his first day at sea. He barely survived due to the help of a passing marine ship who fished him out of the water. While on the ship, he was able to befriend some marines who regaled him with tales of their heroic deeds. Impressed by their tales and kindness, Minoru decided to enlist in the Marines as soon as he was dropped off on a nearby island.
Starting from lowest rank, Minoru slowly rose to the rank of Lieutenant through his sheer work ethic. Now, Minoru continues to serve the Marines in an effort to grow as a swordsman and protect those who truly need protection...

Shimotsuki Village (and the surrounding villages) are best known for their dojos. For an ordinary kid to not have seen a swordsman training doesn't quite make sense unless he was extremely sheltered. But, it's a small enough detail, so it's fine.[/approve]
