Following this he gained the ability to communicate telepathically with any living creature which he then used to learn how to survive in the dark and dreary forest as well as solving a massive conflict between the felines of the forest (lions, tigers, cheetahs, etc.) and the rest of the animals. This would be the first of many conflicts he would resolve, as soon after that he said goodbye to the creatures of the forest (including an owl he deeply bonded with whom he referred to as "his wings."
