Viieno "Lucky 7" Heptade VII
Basic Character Information
Forename: Viieno
Surname: Heptade
Epithets: Lucky 7
Birthdate: July 7th, 1807
Gender: Nonbinary (They/Them)
Species/Tribe: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession: Gambler and Sharpshooter
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 122lbs
Hair Style: Long, wild locks
Hair Color: Golden Blonde
Eye Color: Shamrock Green
Scars: None
Gear: Vii wears a lot of green, particularly a buttoned long-sleeve shirt, lined with vertical stripes of white. They also wear tan pants with a pair of gold-colored suspenders over their shirt, and black heels of varying heights and levels of practicality. At their right hip, they keep a bronze-plated, three-barreled, pepperbox handgun with a wooden grip, at their left hip, they keep a sachel full of near-worthless iron coins that they use for trick shots. Additionally, they always have a deck of playing cards, dice, and a single gold coin that they like to use for coinflips.
Description: Viieno is short and slight, not an intimidating figure by any means. Most would be hard-pressed to determine whether they were a man or a woman, when in fact, they are neither. Their pale skin is covered in freckles and easily sunburnt without sunscreen. Their torso is slim and their arms are slender, while their legs are more well-defined with lean muscles built for running.
They carry themselves with the utmost confidence, meeting every day with an optimistic grin. They also oftentimes don't look where they're going, leading to a lot of bumping into things or people, tripping, and generally walking places that they shouldn't go.
The Past
Main Traits: Free-Spirited, Foolhardy, Optimistic, Clumsy, Airheaded, Hedonistic
Likes:
- Games of Chance: What's more exciting than a good ol' gamble? Knowing Vii's luck, probably not much.
- Clear Skies: Open skies full of possibilities! Nothing to do but see where Lady Luck will take them next!
- The Color Green: Reminds them of simpler times.
- Sunscreen: Without it, Vii would spend most of their life with bright red skin!
- Being Called Cute: Vii puts in a lot of work to be so adorable, so it means a lot to hear it from someone else! Even if they're mistaken for a girl in the process.
- Strong Women: Vii doesn't have any strict requirements to who they may find attractive, but there's a special place in their heart for women who could kick their ass.
Dislikes:
- Plans/Schedules: The more something is planned out, the less room there is for risk to be involved. Entirely too boring for Vii.
- Staying in One Place: Without something to keep Vii busy, they tend to wander off to find trouble to get into.
- The Color Red: Too loud. Angry, even.
- Getting Sunburnt: Looks silly, hurts to move, too much red, happens entirely too easily to Vii. They just can't stand it.
- Being Called Handsome: Means someone thinks they're either a boy or a frumpy girl. Neither of which is what they're going for.
- Royalty/Nobility: Greedy, backstabbing scum. Less than human, the lot of them.
Unique laugh: Keeeeheeheeheehee
Hometown: Four-Leaf Island of the North Blue. Shaped like a clover with four leaves, the island is all plains, forests, and groves, without a single mountain in sight. It was once united and ruled by a single king, Isdris Singlus, rumored to have a secret hoard of gold that every mountain in the land had been mined down to nothing to acquire. When the king passed, rather than leave the whole kingdom to his eldest son, he instead split the island into separate regions, one for each of his seven sons. The eldest son received the largest principality, while the seventh inherited but a sliver of the kingdom.
Miraculously, the seven nations of Four-Leaf remained in peace for several generations, until a young Prince Ivan Quattrin IV, possessing the largest military of the princes, began a campaign, invading and conquering each other principality. He was convinced that one of them had to possess Isdris' now legendary hoard of gold, his intense determination and greed seemingly sustaining his body beyond life's limits as he outlived even his grandchildren.
One by one the principalities fell until the fourth son of the fourth son ruled all but the first and seventh princes' lands. Both had held out for generations, relying on the mutual aid of each other. However, the smallest principality suddenly fell fifteen years ago when aid had been cut off without notice. The land, once known as the Heptade Principality, is now contested land between Quattrin IV's huge army and Isdris Singlus IX's small, but gallant order of holy knights. Both were now searching for the First & Last King's fabled treasure trove. As for the Heptade family, all are confirmed dead except for the seventh son's seventh son, believed to have fled the island altogether, despite being just seven at the time.
Personality: Whether in combat or not, Viieno seems extremely difficult to perturb. In their mind, no matter what happens, things will turn out okay in the end. Despite such a positive-seeming attitude, it is darkened by a tinge of nihilism. Vii knows that one day their luck will run out, but they want to see just how far it can take them before that happens.
They may seem cocky and self-assured on the surface, but Vii is also oddly humble in ways. Primarily in how they attribute every success they have to pure luck rather than any skill they may, in fact, possess. However, this does go both ways, in which they attribute anyone else's hard-earned victories primarily to how lucky they were. Oftentimes, they can come off as rather rude when pointing this out.
- History:
Viieno Heptade was born on the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of the century, to be the seventh prince of the seventh royal family of Four-Leaf Island. They were lucky to have been born, complications during delivery nearly killed them, but those same complications did, unfortunately, kill their mother. They remember being called a "miracle child" by adults, but they never found it very miraculous to have been born to live without their mother.
They were a severe child, quiet and cold, just as their father was. They were rarely let out of the house, under guard most all the time, as the only possible blood heir to the throne. The only people they knew were their father, the guards, and the servants. The servants were the only ones who smiled around Viieno, but they knew it was just because they were paid to be nice to them. Vii hated it all, it was like they lived alone in a cold, dead world. Their only solace was the view from their window, the beautiful, green landscape below, and the clear blue sky that seemed to go on forever. For some reason, they felt less alone when they thought about how big the world outside was as though they knew that they would one day have the chance to explore it.
It was their seventh birthday, they were still unusually aloof for a child their age, but they had grown to particularly hate the way that they were told that they were a miracle child, how lucky they were to inherit the kingdom when they came of age. They had begun fantasizing about running away, stealing a boat, and escaping the island and all the chains of responsibility that bound them to it, all to explore the world beyond the window.
Unfortunately it was on their seventh birthday that their neighboring kingdom turned its back on them. It took only an hour of battle for the forces of the Heptade kingdom to fall. A war that had been raging since long before Vii was born had just come to an end, without them ever having known that it had existed in the first place. All they knew at the time was that they had just, for the first time, been given permission to leave the palace, by a dying guard yelling at them to run for their life.
At the time, they didn't know how they managed to outrun the soldiers chasing them down, nor did they know whose row boat they stole to escape to the sea, nor did they know how every arrow those soldiers fired missed them as they drifted away. It was only as Four-Leaf Island disappeared from view did they finally come to a realization.
They really were lucky. They laughed as it dawned on them. This horrific night had given them what they had wanted all along, freedom. They drifted for days, starving, dehydrated, sunburnt, and the happiest that they had ever been. Even if they were suffering, they knew that there was a chance that they would wash up on the shore of an inhabited island. As long as there was a chance, they knew that they had nothing to worry about.
They did eventually drift ashore on an island and just happened to be found first by a kind family that took them in until they were well-fed and healthy, healthier than they had ever been in fact. From that moment forward, they were a different person.
They became a drifter, without a care in the world other than pursuing their happiness. They roamed from village to village, from island to island; they befriended some people and robbed others blind (depending on how much they liked them). As they grew older, they would frequently visit taverns, where they would learn all sorts of things from simply watching and listening. They picked up card games and an addiction to gambling along with it. They learned how to defend themselves from bar fights, and stole their first gun from someone knocked out cold in the aftermath of such a fight. They had been treated as a boy all their life but finally found themselves after befriending the patrons of a particularly flamboyant tavern.
This was how the world would come to know of the Jolly Gambler, the Clumsy Sharpshooter, the Enby from the NB, Viieno "Lucky 7" Heptade!

[approve]A very well-written bio! I also liked the consistency in the usage of the "luck" theme.[/approve]
