Ryuko's master died, leaving his sword to him. after a week later some low bounty pirates found the island and Ryuko stood up to protect the island alone. This was the moment he lost his right eye, but he defended the island at all cost.

He got a present from his father, twin katana's, one shorter and one longer. It was meant to reming him his brother and sister. after that in a storm a big tsunami came and it was too late, everyone on the island perished, only Ryuko survived with his Katana's
