Description: Looking like a typical human with an athletic build standing at a decent height of 5' 8". Most would think of him as a normal human but looking closer you could see some difference, small but there. Bennu's skin is a wooded-brown color but with a slight greenish blue tone with faint striping on his back. He bears scars that are a brighter color that's more teal tinted. The scars he wears are quite numerous, the most recognizable scar he has is a massive burn scar on his right shoulder stretched from the base of his neck to the top of his right shoulder. His other scars are scattered about barely noticeable though two are quite interesting. One is a large bite scar on his left side with a small thin lined scar on his neck. Bennu's hands are slim and slightly small but coarse with noticeable webbing between his fingers, same with his feet. He's very expressive with his facial expressions and hand gestures while using faint noises as a sort of highlighted reaction to most things.
Bennu's got a squarish soft face with a defined jaw. Large expressive eyes that were ink colored until light shone on them, black eyes became colored like an incoming storm on the sea's horizon with slightly thick eyebrows. A small nose with full soft reddish lips that hide normal looking teeth just a bit more jagged and sharp. His hair is a naturally strawberry blonde hair with golden shine that's quite thick and springy with loose curls, though it was styled in a very simple long mohawk but kept it in a dutch braid.

Personality: Bennu is usually a very imaginative and fun-loving guy, always joking about and finding the fun in any situation he finds himself in. He acts as a sort of buffer in desperate or hopeless situations when around other people. He adores going on adventures and exploring new areas hating the boringness that being stuck in one place gives him. Bennu is easy to get along with and tries his best to not judge based solely on first impressions, preferring to give people the benefit of the doubt. Despite his generally optimistic view on lots of things he can be quite frank in very serious situations, he doesn't like buttering up words just because it's uncomfortable for the person to hear it. Tends to react quite sarcastically to dumb questions, obvious observations or just people that annoy him. Bennu tends to take any opportunities that arise regardless of how this makes him seen to everyone outside of his circle. He feels if it gets him closer to his goal then there is no reason not to take the opportunity. After two major events in his life Bennu has become unforgiving to anyone that has wronged him or anyone he's gotten close to. There isn't anything the person could do to gain forgiveness from Bennu since he won't give them the chance to hurt him or the people close to him again.
When in a fight Bennu uses his imaginative habits to its fullest, making him quite unpredictable in a fight always having a trick up his sleeve. Though this doesn't mean Bennu isn't affected by it, it merely means that he doesn't let it show on his face or in his actions. Bennu despite having this immense self-control does have his limits and when reached he breaks out of his restraints like oil being fed to fire. He can be quite playful in fights he doesn't take seriously or when he's more focused on running than fighting. Bennu uses his sarcasm to irritate his opponents so they slip up more and become less accurate. Still being as opportunistic as usual Bennu can be sneaky with attacks especially hand to hand. He tries to hit close to vital points that are exposed or even make openings himself. Depending on the opponent he's going up against, Bennu might try to finish the fight as soon as possible or drag it out for as long as the opponent can last.

It was an interesting way to come into the world to say the least, Bennu's mother Leonie, a human fishman hybrid who had been a part of a pirate crew traveling through the New World gave birth to Bennu on a particularly stormy night. The whole crew was stunned and quite panicked when their resident navigator went into labor, the only calm ones were Leonie and their captain Asmus. It was a long and tiring process Leonie who had nearly given up twice throughout the birth but eventually Bennu was born and his mother lived. Leonie made the decision to raise her little Firebug on the ship rather than on an island like many of the crew had suggested. Captain Asmus was a bit on the fence about the decision until little Bennu smiled up at him, it was at that point that the weary captain let Bennu's mother have her way.
Bennu was a sweet child never really causing much trouble until he began to learn how to crawl. He got into everything and anything causing quite the headache for his mother and her crew. He had the habit of using the railings of the ship to practice standing only to lose balance and fall overboard. Sometimes if someone had seen what he was doing they would be able to catch him, but other times someone would watch him fall towards the sea and dive in after him. Bennu would giggle at the incident before being handed back to his mother and the person babysitting being given a verbal lashing by Captain Asmus. Growing up a pirate wasn't all happy times, there were moments that scared little Bennu such as when Marines were spotted or when an enemy pirate ship decided to target them. Bennu would be given to the cabin boy Leon to hide and keep safe while the toddler would make quiet noises in distress.
As Bennu had his first birthday Captain Asmus decided it would be best to teach the child to hide and stay out of trouble. No one knew exactly how until their lookout Dirk offered up turning the lessons into games and this was how Bennu stayed alive for the majority of his early years. Playing "hide and seek" with enemy pirates and Marines. It seemed to Bennu that nothing nor no one could harm his small family until the ship was snuck up on and attacked during a small storm in Paradise. Bennu had woken up to Leon shaking him frantically telling him to follow quickly, which Bennu did in confusion. He followed his older brother Leon until they were both grabbed by large men and put into chains. Bennu and Leon cried out in confusion and fear as they were both forced to walk past the dead bodies of the crew. As they reached the deck the two burly men were attacked by Leonie who yelled at them to run. Bennu was frozen still as Leon grabbed his hand dragging him towards the right side of the ship. The two heard the cracking and popping of burning wood breaking as the mast of the ship began to fall towards them. Leon pushes Bennu out of the way, getting trapped under the mast while Bennu stumbles, still getting caught by the fallen mast. Bennu's pinned to the deck as the burning past sears a large 2nd degree burn onto his shoulder. He struggles to get out from under the mast worsening the burn, when he manages to slip out Bennu throws himself overboard crashing into the sea painfully. As Bennu breaks through the surface of the sea he weakly swims over to some driftwood, clinging to it loosely as he watches his only home burn with screams and cries echoing into the stormy night.
As the sun shone down on an unconscious Bennu another ship though smaller sails past him sending small waves over him. Bennu slips off the driftwood and begins to sink until someone leaps off the ship diving down to pull Bennu up to the surface. The person is pulled back up onto the ship and the ship's doctor is quick to take Bennu from the person. They head to the infirmary and quickly begin to treat Bennu making sure to triple check everything with worry eating away at them. It's a week before Bennu's fever breaks and he begins to get better, he drifts in and out of consciousness hearing and seeing bits of conversations wondering where he was and if those mean mean found him. When Bennu is fully awoken the doctor and captain introduce themselves as Hayden and Dante respectively. Bennu hesitates before introducing himself, he's allowed to stay on the ship til he's better and they get to an island. Bennu gets many visitors though the most frequent is of course Hayden and Dante, he thinks Dante is more worried about him more so than Hayden which is warranted he guessed. It takes a lot for him to feel in any way better but it took a special occasion for Bennu to get past his survivor's guilt that Dante helped him, understanding Bennu better than most having gone through something similar. Since that moment Dante adopted Bennu and he had become the ship's cabin boy as the crew sailed between Paradise and the Four Directional Seas. The crew taught him skills that were important on a ship, especially fighting, the basics of navigation and the unspoken rules of being a somewhat neutral party in a world with two opposing forces.
During the time he spent on the ship Bennu gained a few scars from fights with pirates that tried to raid their ship. Everyone kept an eye on him so his injuries were never life threatening. Until one day he was tossed into the sea during a fight with a pirate crew. Almost in an instant the pirates were beaten severely while [captain] dove in after Bennu who had been grabbed by a juvenile sea king. Dante kicks the shit out of the sea king who lets Bennu go, he swims over to his captain. The two surface and are brought back onto the ship with Bennu quickly getting treated and a slip of Papa came from a very shaken up Bennu. Dante is taken back in surprise but he quickly recovers and puffs his chest out in pride at being considered a dad by their very capable cabin boy. Majority of Bennu's years afterwards were carefree and bright while more people joined the crew. Bennu had learned he had talent for navigation and kept improving it as much as he could along with picking up tips on how to be a better lookout from other crew members. Bennu had picked up on sketching and it became a stress relieving hobby for him. He also got two gifts from both Papa and Hayden. Papa had given him a black pearl bracelet that matched his own, he had said it was from the secret stash of treasure he had from when he had been a pirate. Meanwhile, Hayden had given him a very simple necklace for his 17th birthday. It was a silver chain necklace with a peacock green pearl and a silver anchor as pendants. He treasured these gifts fiercely and never took them off not wanting to accidentally get them damaged or lost. Though Bennu had been certain that nothing could change this familiar feeling of safety and warmth until one day an overwhelmingly bad feeling kept his heart company.

For most of his shift it was quiet and uneventful which he was thankful for until he glanced up from his sketching. Bennu quickly jumps to his feet when he spots what looked like a ship, grabbing his spyglass Bennu stiffens when its confirmed that it was a ship but not just a ship. It was a pirate ship but Bennu felt especially anxious about this ship. He looks down to the deck before yelling about the ship heading straight for them. Papa gives out orders and motions for Bennu to stay up in the crow's nest for now. Reluctantly, he does so. Bennu watches as the ship is brought right next to their ship which is when the pirates board the ship with a loud yell. Bennu watches in tense silence as the crews fight viciously but the fight is quickly decided as more of Papa's crew is taken out. Its not long before the pirate captain reveals himself as two lackeys restrained Papa. The pirate captain grins maliciously at Papa who glares at him harshly, the pirate captain spins around and begins to monologue. Papa glances up at the crow's nest to see Bennu staring down in anxious anger ready to jump down and help. The pirate captain turns around and seeing this demands another lackey to go up to the crow's nest. Bennu managed to defend himself quite well despite the disadvantages while Papa looked on with worry swimming in his eyes.
It takes the pirate captain himself for Bennu to get grabbed and dragged down to the deck where he's dangled by the front of his shirt in front of Papa. Bennu struggles in the grip but the pirate captain slams him into the deck of the ship stopping Bennu's struggling, while also causing Bennu's head to bleed quite a bit and a migraine to begin to bloom. Papa snarled a warning at the pirate captain who realized that his rival had a soft spot and exploited it immediately. He promised that if Papa joined his crew that Bennu wouldn't be harmed more and set free. Bennu argued weakly about it but Papa made his choice and his worry turned to utter terror as the pirate captain took a knife from one of his lackey's and slit Bennu's throat. The pirate captain laughed gleefully at the look of terror on Papa's face, he tossed Bennu into the sea without so much as a second thought. Bennu's consciousness had begun to waver when he felt the cold metal of the knife slice along his throat, as he was tossed overboard with an overwhelming sense of déjà vu. Bennu heard the faint scream of his name from his Papa's voice then the far away sound of splashing water. When Bennu woke up in a bed in what he assumed was a hospital of sorts with his neck wrapped up tightly in bandages. The doctor and the man who found him explained everything to Bennu who burst into tears at having lost his family again. The man who found him asked Bennu what had happened to him, when he told them it was between sobs and hiccups. The man and doctor both helped him identify the pirates as an old but powerful pirate crew named The Black Tooth Grin Raiders and that they tended to recruit only captains so reassured Bennu that his Papa should still be alive. Relieved and grateful for the information Bennu stayed on the island to repay the two while also recovering from his injury. He promised himself and his Papa that once he was well enough he would hunt those pirates down and save his Papa.

Bennu had picked up on sketching and it became a stress relieving hobby for him. He also got two gifts from both Papa and Hayden. Papa had given him a black pearl bracelet that matched his own, he had said it was from the secret stash of treasure he had from when he had been a pirate. Meanwhile, Hayden had given him a very simple necklace for his 17th birthday. It was a silver chain necklace with a peacock green pearl and a silver anchor as pendants. He treasured these gifts fiercely and never took them off not wanting to accidentally get them damaged or lost. Though Bennu had been certain that nothing could change this familiar feeling of safety and warmth until one day an overwhelmingly bad feeling kept his heart company.
Bennu was 24 when it happened, it had been an average day while the crew were sailing through the north blue, it had been Bennu's turn to be lookout. For most of his shift it was quiet and uneventful which he was thankful for until he glanced up from his sketching. Bennu quickly jumps to his feet when he spots what looked like a ship, grabbing his spyglass Bennu stiffens when its confirmed that it was a ship but not just a ship. It was a pirate ship but Bennu felt especially anxious about this ship. He looks down to the deck before yelling about the ship heading straight for them. Papa gives out orders and motions for Bennu to stay up in the crow's nest for now. Reluctantly, he does so. Bennu watches as the ship is brought right next to their ship which is when the pirates board the ship with a loud yell. Bennu watches in tense silence as the crews fight viciously but the fight is quickly decided as more of Papa's crew is taken out. Its not long before the pirate captain reveals himself as two lackeys restrained Papa. The pirate captain grins maliciously at Papa who glares at him harshly, the pirate captain spins around and begins to monologue. Papa glances up at the crow's nest to see Bennu staring down in anxious anger ready to jump down and help. The pirate captain turns around and seeing this demands another lackey to go up to the crow's nest. Bennu managed to defend himself quite well despite the disadvantages while Papa looked on with worry swimming in his eyes.
It takes the pirate captain himself for Bennu to get grabbed and dragged down to the deck where he's dangled by the front of his shirt in front of Papa. Bennu struggles in the grip but the pirate captain slams him into the deck of the ship stopping Bennu's struggling, while also causing Bennu's head to bleed quite a bit and a migraine to begin to bloom. Papa snarled a warning at the pirate captain who realized that his rival had a soft spot and exploited it immediately. He promised that if Papa joined his crew that Bennu wouldn't be harmed more and set free. Bennu argued weakly about it but Papa made his choice and his worry turned to utter terror as the pirate captain took a knife from one of his lackey's and slit Bennu's throat. The pirate captain laughed gleefully at the look of terror on Papa's face, he tossed Bennu into the sea without so much as a second thought. Bennu's consciousness had begun to waver when he felt the cold metal of the knife slice along his throat, as he was tossed overboard with an overwhelming sense of déjà vu. Bennu heard the faint scream of his name from his Papa's voice then the far away sound of splashing water. When Bennu woke up in a bed in what he assumed was a hospital of sorts with his neck wrapped up tightly in bandages. The doctor and the man who found him explained everything to Bennu who burst into tears at having lost his family again. The man who found him asked Bennu what had happened to him, when he told them it was between sobs and hiccups. The man and doctor both helped him identify the pirates as an old but powerful pirate crew named The Black Tooth Grin Raiders and that they tended to recruit only captains so reassured Bennu that his Papa should still be alive. Relieved and grateful for the information Bennu stayed on the island to repay the two while also recovering from his injury. He promised himself and his Papa that once he was well enough he would hunt those pirates down and save his Papa.
