The usual first impression of Akio is that he is very cool and calm yet very serious at the same time. He typically keeps his emotions under-wrap choosing to show nothing but a robotic like face devoid of any spec of emotion as he believes they do nothing but get him in trouble. This can hurt him in most situations but when situations get dire he can keep it more calmed than others allowing him to think more about the problems at hand. While quiet around most people it is not because he is shy but likes to survey the area and the people in it just in case something happened. Akio’s story starts in the east blue on an island known as Shimotsuki village, a place known to breed some of the words greatest martial artist. The Getsumi family had been living in Shimotsuki for decades taking the role of blacksmiths on the island, crafting the weapons that were used for the different styles of martial arts and some of them even partook in becoming a sensei within the dojos on Shimotsuki. Akio’s father, Akito Getsumi, had worked his way to becoming a sensei at his own small dojo while his mother, Shiro Getsumei worked as an assistant at a local food shop. After it was time for them both to return to their jobs Akio’s grandfather, Ryuujuro Getsumei, would be the one to keep an eye on his grandson.
Ryuujuro was a retired pirate and blacksmith who spent the rest of his days watching his grandson and running a small blacksmith shop. The former pirate would often take the young boy to his shop, letting Akio watch him as he forged weapons. So he didn’t bore his grandson to death with watching him make stuff all day Ryuujuro would tell him all kinds of stories of how he wandered the seas, making a mess with his crew wherever they went. Akio loved the stories so much that he began to say that he too wanted to be a pirate and explore the seas like his grandfather. While his parents didn’t fully agree with Ryuujuro making their son want to be a pirate but didn’t want to crush the boys dreams.
As time went on Akio went from watching to eventually helping his grandfather when he was crafting weapons and helped deliver the product to the costumer whenever they finished with it. One day when he was around the age of seven, Akio had helped his grandfather deliver an order to a place that happened to be his fathers dojo. As he had spent most of his time with his grandfather, he had never actually visited his fathers dojo. As they made their way in the young boy quickly spotted his father teaching a group of students a form of kenjutsu and his eyes instantly lit up. He had no idea that his father had taught something so cool and he too wanted to learn how to use a sword. When Akio’s father paused his session to thank Ryuujuro for the delivery, his son quickly asked if he too could teach him how to use a sword too. Akito smiled greatly as he agreed to teach him but warned he would not give special treatment too Akio and he would have to work hard like everyone else.
The next day Akio began his training in the way of the sword along with five other boys in the dojo. Though he had never picked up a sword Akio seemed to be naturally gifted with one in his hands and seemed to make the others jealous so much that they eventually began avoiding him. However another student named Sato changed things for Akio during a sparring session with each other as Instead of avoiding him he declared that he would beat Akio as he would one day be the strongest swordsman. Akio did beat Sato that day but the outspoken Sato said that they were now rivals and would beat him some day. Their friendship had started that day and over the next 4 years they grew to become the bestest friends and rivals with a single goal to become the greatest swordsman who walked the planet.
When Akio was elven his grandfather had passed leaving his grandson in a river of tears, his grandfather was his first best friend and now he was gone. Akito decided to fulfill his dads dying wish of burying him with the rest of his crew in the south blue. Akito, Akio, and Shiro all set out on a ship they had been lent so do as Ryuujuro wanted them to do but this was the last time any of them had been seen or heard from again. During their first night on the way to the east blue the family had their ship raided by pirates while sleeping. It wasn’t much they could do as their rooms were stormed with armed men who immediately killed Akito as he tried defending his family. Akio was grabbed by one of the men as the rest surrounded his mother as she sat helpless on her bed, her last words were screaming her sons name as he was taken away.
Akio kicked and screamed as he was carried by a large man to the next ship and only stopped once his life had been threatened. He was soon dropped off and chained in the bottom of the traders ship along with several other young children. As the ship pulled off Akio burst into tears as the images of his fathers death and his mothers final scream for him as she was murdered, just why did this have to happen? It took several days but the pirates eventually made their way to their destination on a small island deeper into the east blue. It was the traders base of operation and also were they kept slaves to help run illegal operations. Several of the older slaves had decided to rebel and were killed, leading a large gap of slaves needing to be filled with Akio filling in one of the spots after his capture.
Another four years has passed with Akio working as a slave having had his emotions and dreams beat out of him by his slave masters. He had almost lost hope completely of ever being free again but a miracle happened on the eve of his 15th birthday. Unbeknownst to the pirates who had went out and obtained more slaves someone had lead the revolutionary army back to their base. The army had managed to get several inside people to come finish the rebellion that some of the other slaves had started and alerted them too. As they were doing usual work in the fields mining for materials a large explosion occurred and fights began to break out as the revolutionaries came to free the enslaved people.
A revolutionary named Grant is who freed him from his chains, encouraging him to help them fight and that is exactly what Akio did. Altering finding a sword on a dead guards body he began to do whatever he could so that they could win against the pirates who had destroyed so many peoples lives. It was a long and tough battle but eventually the pirates had been defeated and the slaves were now free thanks to the revolutionaries. Post battle Akio was having his wounds treated by a revolutionary medic when he was approached by the man who freed him, saying that he likes the way he took charge after being freed and wondered if he wanted to become apart of the revolution. Akio thought about it for a second before answering with a yes starting his life anew.
After being treated too and helping tend to others Akio and grant would make their way to another revolutionary strong hold where his training would begin. Several of the older slaves had decided to rebel and were killed, leading a large gap of slaves needing to be filled with Akio filling in one of the spots after his capture.
Another four years has passed with Akio working as a slave having had his emotions and dreams beat out of him by his slave masters. He had almost lost hope completely of ever being free again but a miracle happened on the eve of his 15th birthday. Unbeknownst to the pirates who had went out and obtained more slaves someone had lead the revolutionary army back to their base. The army had managed to get several inside people to come finish the rebellion that some of the other slaves had started and alerted them too. As they were doing usual work in the fields mining for materials a large explosion occurred and fights began to break out as the revolutionaries came to free the enslaved people.
A revolutionary named Grant is who freed him from his chains, encouraging him to help them fight and that is exactly what Akio did. Altering finding a sword on a dead guards body he began to do whatever he could so that they could win against the pirates who had destroyed so many peoples lives. It was a long and tough battle but eventually the pirates had been defeated and the slaves were now free thanks to the revolutionaries. Post battle Akio was having his wounds treated by a revolutionary medic when he was approached by the man who freed him, saying that he likes the way he took charge after being freed and wondered if he wanted to become apart of the revolution. Akio thought about it for a second before answering with a yes starting his life anew.
After being treated too and helping tend to others Akio and grant would make their way to another revolutionary strong hold where his training would begin. More years passed as Akio became a full fledge member of the revolutionary army becoming a man helping those in need whenever the time calls and striving towards his own dream of becoming the worlds strongest swordsman.
