Hometown: Port Caltrety - West Blue
A small town in the West Blue is where Adrian comes from. He was born to a young couple who had recently settled down onto a spot of farmland a few miles from the town. The port is a small one, resting on a small island rich with forests and fields. There is also a large coal mine to the north. With the produce from the farmland, coal from the mine, and the fishing industry, the small town slowly became more and more of a bustling port town. It grew in size over the years of Adrian’s early years from the small town it had once been to the bustling trade port. Port Caltrety is a town filled with hard-working folks, from various careers, all working together. The town is a bit close-knit, despite its size of nearly 4,000.
Personality: Adrian is a boisterous fellow. If there is a matter in which he has something to say, he'll willingly and quickly state his mind. He's quick to make jokes and laugh about minor things, seemingly with no care in the world. Even when his life is on the line, he is still willing to crack a joke or two. Hell, there has been a lot of times in his life where he's had to learn to keep his mouth shut to avoid causing issues. Most likely, if he speaks up, he'll say something smart-ass like or make a joke.
A bit bullheaded, he will often rely on a mixture of brute strength and wit. He tries to out-think his opponents in a fight, whether by using social triggers or planning out his strategies. However, if he's pushed to the brink, he'll try to use brute force. It's what his fall-back is. He'll fight purely on instinct, and aim to hit harder. He'll be less likely to dodge unless really needed and will try to overpower his opponent.
He's prideful. Well, not to the degree of some people he will often make jokes about, "how cool he is" and similar things. However, while this is his external facade, he is oftentimes enough hateful towards himself. He sees himself as not good enough and often enough will strive to get better. He focuses more on himself in the terms of his own flaws. He is quick to judge and criticize himself. However, with others, he is more than willing to dish out compliments and say when he thinks something is awesome. In that regard, he is a bit childish, with almost boundless childish optimism.
- History:
Hugo and Marianne Hatch, a young couple who got married at a young age. Marianne was 21, while Hugo was 26. Hugo had lived a life of piracy in his younger years. For him, he was raised in it. However, when he was 22, he left that life behind and began to live in Port Caltrety. He kept his head low and worked hard to provide for himself. He didn't want to live the pirate life. The crew he had been apart of, while he had fun times, there was the risk of the Navy. Being the timid man he was, that thought was something that he couldn't escape.
During the first year of his time in Port Caltrety, he found himself often spending time with a young woman. Marianne. The two didn't get along at all when they first met. However, they met and spent time with one another through mutual friends. The timid man Hugo and the boisterous woman Marianne were like polar opposites. They would often get into arguments over almost nothing. Not to mention, when they wanted to go places as a group, the two would butt heads. However, slowly and steadily, they began to get closer and closer.
Hugo was the first person to make a move. They had known each other for 3 years. It was a rainy night, and they had all went out as a group to go fishing. They all had a packed dinner in the park and had split up to make it home. With Marianne and Hugo living on the same side of town, he walked her home. As he dropped her off on her porch, he leaned in for a kiss. It was returned by Marianne. Their relationship grew quickly, and within a year, they were married. The two used the money Hugo had been saving and bought a farm a few miles from town, which the two quickly moved to.
Marianne and Hugo ran the farm, using it to stay afloat. Soon, they had a child. A baby boy they named Adrian Tucker Hatch. However, soon, disaster struck. His mother got sick and died when Adrian was only 4 years old. With the loss of his wife, Hugo became more solemn. He worked hard to support his child, choosing to risk working long cruel hours at the coal mines, as that was more money. The farm wasn't as big, and it became harder to support for a profit. For the most part, Hugo tended to it for the food. Hugo became almost deadset on building a supply of money for himself and his child. When Marianne had died, there was the issue of them not having the money to buy the expensive medication. He never wanted to lose someone in his life like that again.
Hugo's ability as a father was much less skilled in the term of parental affection than his wife had been. While he wasn't uncaring, as he did love his son, he found it hard to address that fact to him. His way of showing love was to work tirelessly to provide for him. So Adrian grew up, seeing his father very little, and when he did, Hugo was tired and worn out. Adrian would spend days being babysat by his neighbors, while Hugo worked. Hugo would pick up Adrian and they would go home. This went on for a few years until Adrian was about 10 years old. There, he went to school and would spend the afternoon working. He took a part-time job in town, which was a secret to his father. He figured that if he could make some berries, he could make things easier for his father.
As the years went by, Adrian got stronger and worked harder. By the time Adrian was 15, he was pretty self-sufficient. However, one day, shit hit the fan. His father had gotten the day off and was planning on surprising his son when he got home from school. He planned to cook him his favorite meal. There had been people who had heard that their home was usually empty for those hours. So a robbery was planned. They broke in and saw Hugo there. So in an act of fear, they killed him and robbed the place. They didn't plan to kill, but a hit with a chair went too far, and without any medical attention, by the time Adrian got back after a long day of work, his father was dead from bleeding out. Not to mention, the money the two of them both had been saving over the years was gone.
Adrian worked even harder than before. He dropped out of school and focused on working. It took time. An almost insane amount of time. He spent the next few years doing hard and dangerous work. He worked the fields, he worked the mines, and he spent a good deal on fishing expeditions. There, he found that he was both a good helmsman and had a wondrous sense of naval direction. He found more success as he got older. By the age of 17, he was hired as a part of a shipping crew.
He worked under the Navigator and Helmsman, Ulysses Jones, who was an old man who had served in the Marines in his youth, and now spent his time with a Shipping Charter. He noticed the skill of Adrian and took him under his wing. During their first shipment, they stopped on a small island in the West Blue to deliver a shipment of coal extracted from the mine. The crew after the delivery spent the night on the beach with a large campfire. They drank and toasted to their success as a crew while celebrating Adrian and the few other newies who had joined on their first job. That night, Adrian was unlucky enough to get bitten by a wild fox. The wound wasn't too deep, but there was a good chunk of blood. The wound was treated, but a scar formed on his left bicep. Ulysses would later say it was just fate coming to give him a reminder of his first trip.
A few years passed and Ulysses, the cheery man he was, while teaching Adrian all he knew, told stories about the freedom of pirates. The old man claimed that while he was a marine, and had dealt with a good number of the more rough and tumble pirates, there were those who simply yearned for freedom. It was a trait that Ulysses had admired, even if he didn't agree with their methods and their pension for crime. However, Adrian slowly and steadily became fascinated with them.
When he was 22, the Shipping Charter went bankrupt. Ulysses shook his hand and sent him off on his own, wishing him the best of luck. From there, Adrian found himself leaning towards piracy. He joined a small-time crew, the Wounded Snakes. However, almost a year later, due to differences between Adrian and the captain, a fight broke out. Adrian was a tough fighter. He had found himself getting into brawls for most of his life. It wasn't much like he had planned to get into fights at first. However, thanks to his mouth, fights would break out. So by human's willingness to adapt, Adrian slowly became a better fighter. And he began to like it more and more. In the end, it was a close fight, and in the end, Adrian would have nearly won. But the first mate held Adrian down and stabbed Adrian in the gut. Then, shot him in the back. He was abandoned on a beach, where he was found by a young girl and her family.
When he woke up, he needed to take the time to get healthy. He thanked them for his help and took off on his own. For him, he wanted to find a crew that fit him. One that wasn't filled with cheating assholes, and didn't have a pension for crime like some. He wanted a crew who valued freedom above all else.

Would've been interesting to see Adrian's history end at him being left for dead on the beach, and then his first quest/thread covering him being rescued. But, that's okay.
