”The Great” Lu Shang
Basic Character Information
Starting Bonus: Hard Boiled | [Starting Bonus Roll]
First Name:Lu
Last Name:Shang
Epithet: The Great
Age: 35
Gender:
Race: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession:Chef, Mascot
Physical Appearance
Height: 15'3”
Weight: 3,100 lbs
Hair Style:Long, wavy and immaculately kept
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Blood red
Scars:None
Clothing and Accessories: Lu Shang is extremely vain and usually chooses to dress himself in the latest fashions and rarest cloth and leathers. In particular he enjoys wearing animal furs, particularly those belonging to dangerous predators. He will tell people he hunted them himself as it helps further the perception that he is a great warrior.
Description: Lu Shang takes great pride in his appearance. He follows a strict diet and exercise routine and rarely eats food others have prepared, preferring instead to cook his own meals. As a chef and nutritionist he is actually quite talented. He regularly applies lotions and oils to his skin so as to keep himself in pristine condition and abstains from drugs or alcohol.
When it comes to hygiene and preserving his immaculate physique Lu Shang is a perfectionist. There are few things he won't do to preserve his appearance or make himself look better. He has no tattoos or piercings and any scars or blemishes he may get are covered with makeup as he believes all those things, no matter how minor, tarnish his perfect appearance.
The Past
Main Traits:Vain, Greedy, Narcissasitic
Likes:Attention, Money, Working Out, Cooking
Dislikes: Junk Food, Poor People, Weaklings
Unique laugh: Rawhawhawhaw
Hometown: Mirrorball Island, East Blue
Personality: Lu Shang values two things in life. Money and power. He pursues these two things with relentless determination. Inwardly he is selfish and greedy, caring only about himself and only about others insofar as they can benefit him. Outwardly though he often seems kind, funny and even occasionally generous. This is all an act. Lu Shang simply knows that it is often easier to use people and get what he wants if he appears personable. If he respects anybody else (and occasionally he does), it's because he believes they are richer or more powerful than he is. If he loses this belief then so to does he lose the respect he had for them.
His vices of choice are sex and gambling. The first not only feels good but he believes it raises his testosterone level and makes him capable of achieving levels of strength and muscle growth that he could not obtain without it. The second, gambling, is simply fun to him and since money has never been an issue in his life he has no problem if he loses some of it occasionally.
- History:
Lu Shang was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His family owned the largest casino on the island as well as the luxury resort right next to it. The Shang family was about as wealthy as you could be without actually being royalty. As a kid he attended the best private schools, ate the best meals and generally had the best life you could buy for a kid.
Aside from the wealth Lu had another thing going for him. He was naturally athletic and good looking. Excelling at every sport he tried to compete in, he gravitated towards combat sports, in particular mixed martial arts, which was becoming popular in the East Blue around that time. These natural successes only further stroked his ego and helped grow the belief that he was somehow better than everybody else.
After school he began competing professionally and went on a hot streak early on. It didn't take long however for Lu Shang to realize it was easier to be successful if he could control the ending. At first he would simply talk to his opponent to ensure they were on the same page in terms of how to sell the match to the public. Usually this meant acting like there was some personal grudge between them that could only be settled in the ring when in reality they'd never met each other before.
Before long though Lu began using more underhanded tactics such as bribery, blackmail or intimidation. He began rubbing elbows with many of the mobsters and pirates in The East Blue who controlled much of the sports betting in the region. If his opponent wouldn't play ball willingly Lu and his “friends” would threaten them or their family, or their homes, or their business. If that didn't work they would target the officials in charge of the match insuring the ref or the judges would play it fast and loose with the rules where Lu was involved.
Of course the general public was none the wiser to any of this. To them he was The Great Lu Shang, the handsome and talented fighter that they all loved. Women would throw themselves at him, men would fight each other just to be in his presence, children would cheer his name when they saw him. Many fans even offered him gifts, including in one case, a devil fruit, which Lu ate just to make the fan happy.
Unfortunately for Lu Shang, all great things must come to an end. Eventually investigations against the mobsters and the pirates that he worked with led to investigations against him and it was made public that most of his fights were fixed. He was barred permanently from competing in official competitions in the East Blue and almost over night his reputation was ruined.
As more and more people came forward about Lu's actions it began to look like he would face serious legal consequences, and so fearing the worst, he cursed the marines and the government and fled out to sea a wanted man.

I quite enjoyed reading Lu Shang's history. Considering he's starting out as a wanted man, I'm gonna assign him a whopping bounty of 800,000 berries. Let me know if you have any issues with this.
