Giovanni de Silva
Basic Character Information
Starting Bonus: Child of Destiny | [Starting Bonus Roll]
First Name: Giovanni
Middle Name/Initial: N/A
Last Name: de Silva
Epithet:
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Faction: Marine
Profession: Combatant | Cook
Physical Appearance
Height: 8'2"
Weight: 195lbs
Hair Style: Wild
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Grey
Scars: Numerous littered across his body.
Clothing and Accessories: Giovanni wears a unique take on the Marine outfit: black hakama pants and a matching shirt, though left unbuttoned exposing his chest. Above it he wears a white jacket, also left open, with the kanji for "Wild" (荒) written on the back. He also wears a white belt around his waist, and strange white buckles as a sort of shin guard. He wears plain sandals on his feet.
Description: Gio is a noticeably tall individual, built with corded muscle lacing throughout his frame, leaving no doubt to the training of a warrior he had undergone in his formative years. He possesses healthy crème colored skin, though he tans quite nicely when he spends time in the sun. His facial features could be "pretty" if one was hard pressed to describe them, with the most striking part of his face being his large almond shaped eyes and the lush lashes surrounding their steel grey hues. What beauty could be found in him is lessened by the maniacal look in his eye and the scars that rake across his face, tracing down the rest of his body. His hair is wild and unkempt, and the color of fresh snowfall.
The Past
Main Traits: Naive, Oblivious, Loyal, Murderous, Explosive, Mercurial
Likes: Fighting, bloodshed, cooking, good food
Dislikes: "Peace", mercy, losing, being bored
Unique laugh: His signature laugh is "Hokokoko"
Hometown: Unknown (Raised by Marines)
Personality: Giovanni is an extremely fickle creature. His interests and attentions change like the seasons, going from paying attention to one thing to being distracted by even the most mundane of occurrences. Because of this, he is extremely unreliable when it comes to completing certain tasks. Or...any tasks at all really. It is a grave mistake to give Giovanni a job to do, as it is very likely it just won't get done. There are few things he appears consistently interested in: the first being cooking. It was discovered early that he had a talent and love for the culinary arts, such a refined and sophisticated practice being at odds with the rest of his brutish nature.
His second interest is much more gruesome: battle. More specifically the act of killing therein. He takes great pleasure in taking a life, and will most often play with his “prey”, drawing out their torment or even giving them a false sense of hope that they might escape before killing them. Though this is what makes him an exemplary marine, or more aptly described “pirate hunter”, getting him to complete a job that doesn’t have a prospect of battle or death is a fool’s errand.
Much like his interests, his feelings towards others can be changed quickly as well. If someone falls out of his favor, appears weak too often, or simply annoys Giovanni too much he is likely to leave them behind without a second thought. He may even lash out at them in turn. There are few places where his loyalty is truly cemented, one of said places being with the Marines as an order, those within however are subject to his ire like any regular person.
Despite his moods and attention shifting often, Giovanni always displays a friendly or cheery demeanor. This doesn’t convey the image one would think, however, as even through his smiles and laughter is the honed skills and instincts of a born killer. He more often than not comes across as threatening, or even creepy, where others would be seen as charming when they smile. His smiles are always tinged with something else, sometimes bloodlust but not always, as other emotions are prone to come to the surface. He’s not devoid of them, after all.
Those who have experience with him, or with people like him, will notice the slightest of shifts and changes between his emotions. When angry, his smiles take on a sharp edge, showing more teeth than necessary. When saddened, though this rarely happens, they waver ever so slightly at the edges. When taken by a bloodlust, his smile and eyes become more manic than they are usually, giving a glimpse at the dangers roiling beneath his skin.
Giovanni has come to understand the world through physicality, though this has been expressed through combat more than anything else. To Gio, to touch someone is to get to know them, to fight them is to know their soul, to kill them is to achieve the greatest understanding of who they are and their place within the vast world and the unknowable expanse beyond. Though he wouldn’t describe it as anything so poetic. Boundaries aren’t something he understands, and because of this he is likely to give out hugs and playful punches like candy.
- History:
- Giovanni was left at a Marine base as a child, with anyone who could claim them as his own being nowhere in sight. While normally they would've dropped him off at the nearest orphanage or foster home, an old Marine named Raul de Silva, who had always hoped of having kids but never had the time took pity on him and raised him as his own.
But it was apparent from the time he could walk that Gio wasn't a typical child. He was more prone to aggression, vicious and socialized in strange ways. No matter how much Raul tried to break him of these habits, he never could. He tried discipline, coddling, bargaining. He even tried channeling Giovanni's energies into something productive when he came of age: cooking. But all it did was create a child that could bake a souffle while ripping someone's arm off.
So instead he decided to steer into the skid, raising Gio to fight on the side of the Marines, hunting down pirates and taking out all of his egregious bloodlust upon them. He wasn't so much trained to protect civilians, but rather disregard them on his murderous escapades. His actions being fueled by no morality, no service to a greater ideal, simply an immense bloodlust.
Despite his motivations, Giovanni grew to be a rather competent Marine. He's lacking in any area that doesn't involve hunting down, fighting or killing someone, but his track record has far fewer accidental deaths and collateral damage within it than one would assume when looking at him. But that may change, after all no one knows for sure what the future holds.

An excellently written bio, especially the personality. I look forward to seeing what chaos Gio breeds in the name of Justice.
