[Episode] Another stop, another bar to tend.

"Alright, Karl!" Volo snickered as he cracked his knuckles and neck, "Let's do this!" Shouting as he blasted open the with a powerful wave of smoke, flinging the doors open and out as smoke billowed out into the street. The overpowering smell of nicotine wafting through the air.

"Stand ready!" The marine grunts shouted as they gripped their weapons tightly as two shadows emerged from the smoke. Volo in the front with Karl tailing behind, still contemplating how he got drug into this mess.

Noda pushed her way past the mainline of marines, putting herself front in center to greet Volo as the smoke rolled off of his body as he came into view. "Nice to see you again." She muttered, gripping the sea stone kendo sword tightly, remembering their previous meeting after Black Drum.

"Oh shit! How ya been?!" Volo laughed as he waved at the marine, mistaking their previous adventure as a budding friendship. "Is Leo around too...?"

"Tch." Noda sucked her teeth without responding, kicking off the ground and lunging towards the smoke man with her sea stone weapon.

"Waaahh!" Volo shouted as he barely managed to dodge the swing, "Hey! W-wait!" Desperately avoiding the follow-up swing by barrel rolling on the ground out of the way. "Can't we talk about thi-...!" Catching a sea stone strike to the side of the face, cutting off his words as he went tumbling several feet away. "Guess not..." He muttered to himself rubbing his cheek before dragging himself back to his feet. "Damn sea stone..." Noticing the marine Leuitenants weapon and thinking back to his battle alongside Bill when they took on Magnus.

"Yoo, Karl!" He shouted back to his newfound friend, "I'll handle this one if ya don't mind. We got some history." Smirking as he finished his sentence, he motioned to Noda before jetting off down the street in an effort to give himself and Karl more space to handle their fights.

"I got this! You guys handle that one!" She shouted, taking off after the pi(lot)rate. Leaving Kine and a small group of marines to takedown Karl.

Karl rushed through the front door with the hand holding onto his nose, following Volo who himself just bust through it. Upon reaching out, he was met by the marines, all pointing the rifles at the door. This seemed like the proper moment to simply pull one of those moves. "I damn you to the deepest hell of hells." he mumbled lowly to Volo who was standing next to him, as he slowly but surely, put his hands up, indicating a sign of surrender, which seemed like a reasonable thing to do, given the situation.

It was obvious though, Volo wouldn't give up without a fight, especially when a marine barged through the rest of them who seemed to know Volo and vice versa, heck they could even be friends? Wishful thinking. The woman immediately lunged at Volo... Obvious grudge. What surprised him was the fact that Volo, who seemed to be indestructible to everything so far, as much as he had seen it... Until now. "Your destructibility went somewhere now?" he let out a sigh after he had questioned Volo... Things only seemed to get worse.

Sure, of course... Volo decided to keep on going, even deciding to give out 'orders' to him... Who does he think he is to Karl?! The little amount of time he had known him, even this doesn't surprise him anymore. What did however surprise him was the fact that the marines lowered their weapons and drew their blades, followed by a marine known as Kine to lead the assault... On Karl.

"Of course... Me always with the numbers against me." he stood there with his hands up, waiting... And waiting... And then waiting again... Until the right moment to perform a small stomp with his left foot to let the purple liquid ooze off of him onto the ground to create a pool of it for the marines to step into it. If one of the two is fighting, the other one might aswell... That being Karl. Who knows, maybe they are lucky and actually manage to escape? Sketchy thinking...

"The hell is your problem?!" Noda shouted as several dozen marines got into position behind her.

"Wha..?"

"Look around you! Look at what you have done to this island!" Her hands gripped the sea stone sword. "How the fuck can you live with yourself??! These people are suffering, all because of your selfishness.... Ya know... It's funny.." mumbling under her breath, "I thought you might've been different...."

Volo's eyes drifted passed those that now surrounded him, eyes widening at the chaos he had caused. "Shit..." Mumbling as he watched the townsfolk as they scrambled desperately to help those that had fallen in.

The smoke from the previously destroyed bookstore rose high in the sky in the distance. Reminding him once more of his earlier actions.

"Shitty, huh?!" Noda shouted angrily, "You pirates.... You disgust me... You especially, I've heard you spout about 'freedom' and everyone deserves to have it. Well?! What kind of freedom is this, huh?!"

The pi(lot)rate stood silent. His knuckles went white while his head grew heavy. Volo, for the first time in a very long time, felt the weight of his actions as he trembled with a mixture of fear and rage. Shit.....Shit....Shit... Gritting his teeth before taking a deep sigh, nothing the marines positioning themselves to take him in.

"Prepare yourself, pirate...." The marines opting not to give the young man the option to surrender himself willingly.

"Well, what are you waiting for?!" Volo shouted with his arms out and tears running down his cheeks. "Come at me you marine dicks!!"

They rushed him like a pack of wild dogs, pounding and beating him with their weapons as Volo allowed each one to connect with full force. Clubs and fists rained down upon the young man's body as he fell to the ground, sprawled out as the mob swarmed him.

"Enough!" Noda shouted in a commanding tone, scattering the pack like roaches scurrying from the light. Leaving a beaten and battered Volo on his back staring at the sun. "What are you doing?!"

"......"

"What are you doing?!"

"......"

"Fine!" She shouted, sprinting over towards the downed pi(lot)rate, striking him in the ribs with a swift toe, packing enough force to send Volo tumbling several feet. Once more she did it. And again. And again. Repeatedly until she was keeled over and out of breath. "Why...." She panted tearfully, "Why won't you fight now, is it because we aren't innocent civilians, huh?! Why?!"

"I....I'm sorry...." Volo muttered in between hacking up blood.

"What?! You are sorry?! How is that going to help these people?! What is your fucking goal here?!!"

"It's.... not...." Wincing as he stood up, his face swollen and bloody. "But one day.... I promise... I will.."

"One day? Tch, you must not get it, one day you are gonna be in Impel Down! That's where scum like you belong!" Shouting as she swung the dulled sword like a bat, connecting with the young man's head at the height of the swing.

Boards shattered as the young man went right through the side of a wooden shack nearby, the force of the impact tossed him like a rag doll. "Here!" She shouted to a nearby petty officer, tossing him a pair of sea stone cuffs. "Grab him and let's go." Turning her back as she stormed off back towards where Kine had Karl cornered.

"Y...Yes si-er.... Ma'am! Yes Ma'am! Sir!... Ahh uhhh..."

"It's fine, just get it done!" Sending the low-ranking member scuttling off towards the crash zone of Volo's battered body.

"Tch...." Gritting her teeth as her thoughts raced on the subject matter that was Volo Rosso Airheart. "Fucking pirates...."

"AHHH! H-HELP!!" The petty officer shouted, drawing back the lieutenant's attention to her six. There stood Volo with the officer held in the air and gripped by his shirt.

"Hey! Put him down!" The words were almost simultaneous with the pi(lot)rate tossing him aside, leaving him relatively unharmed.

Smoke erupted from the soles of his boots, filling the air with the harsh scent of nicotine and clouding the vision of the marines. "I'm sorry, Rial..." Volo spoke softly, with more than a hint of remorse layered in his voice. "I'm sorry to you and all the people I have hurt..." His thoughts raced back to his sister. The sister he had before his recklessness got someone hurt. Hurt so bad they couldn't come back from it.

"Your right. One day I might end up in that shithole they call Impel Down. One day I might end up dead in the water...." He paused for a moment as the smoke started to clear, revealing a smiling, albeit very swollen Volo. "But that one day ain't no time soon! And I promise....!" Taking off into the sky with a spiraling smoke stream tailing behind. Shooting dozens of feet into the sky before falling back to earth behind the would-be swordswoman. "I promise you that I will do better ..... woah!" Dodging a sword swing at the last second.

"Stop moving!" Swinging the sea stone weapon violently, just barely missing Volo with each and every deadly swing.

"Careful now!" Volo snickered as he grabbed her arm on the backswing, preventing her from moving momentarily.

Locking eyes with her, his usual demeanor changed. A serious tone was set by the stern expression in his eyes. Time seemingly stood still for the pair as the whole world waited on bated breath for what would happen next. "I promise, this won't happen again."

The pool of bubbling oozing purple liquid was making its way towards the approaching marines rather quickly. It did not take long until a couple of them had taken a step into it. Luckily for them, the effect on the poisonous pool of ooze was weak and had not yet taken effect. The military-issued boots protected the precious feet.

But their faces were not protected. "Let's see can I do this.". An imaginary lightbulb lit up in his head—something he had thought of trying before but never had much of a chance. He took a step forward onto the ooze he had produced, followed by the other foot.

He pushed himself off with one foot, followed by another push with the other foot, almost like gliding on top of it... Nay, he was 'ice-skating' on top of the ooze, albeit with some issues with balancing. The man clearly was not an expert ice-skater, but this did give him an advantage over the assaulting marines.

Their precious feet were protected from the poison, but were their faces? With purple oozing fists, the 'ice-skating' Karl sent out punches, and also kicks, in the faces and bodies of the marines. The faces immediately had red burn marks forming upon the poisonous touch, for shirts and pants, it took some time to burn through, probably losing its effect in the long run.

But even his own attempts to attack did not go without its problems. The situation he was put in was not ideal. His attacks were sloppy. Not that he was an expert fighter in the first place, but he knew his way around with punches and kicks. The ice-skating without good balance made the weight of each punch and kick weaker, leaving the poison to do the most work, either by direct contact on the face or if the fell down onto the pool of it.

Some were punched down, some were dodged... That only left the man named Kine. But Karl did not plan to deal with him for too long. Since things had gone so far already, all he was thinking was how to avoid being arrested. So he performed a quick slip and slide from the incoming sword swing, 'ice-skating' all the way off from the purple ooze.

"Hey! You! Let's get out of here!" Karl was already on his way towards the other street corner after having avoided the marines. Would Volo follow him, however?
