This mischievous smile seems to even be present when things have gone terribly wrong, and it only breaks when Marasu has finally lost his temper or when he has found something extremely disturbing. Marasu himself seems to be a cool and collected man, which is vastly different from the blood thirsty and vicious reputation that he plots to create. A cunning planner and tactician, Marasu is notorious for creating plans and plots in order to cause trouble and mayhem for the Marines and his enemies. Like a snake, Marasu has shown ludicrous degrees of patience and devotion to his plans, and he is willing to wait prolong periods of time to see his meticulously crafted plans blossom into dreadful fruit.
In order to lay the ground work for those terrible plans, Marasu has developed the ability to manipulate and influence people and situations like pieces on a chessboard. In spite of his tactical and manipulative mentality, Marasu’s anger and wraith has been known to coerce him into preforming reckless and aggressive maneuvers. This anger is usually roused by the Marines and Rulers who take advantage of their position and power, and he holds a deep hatred for those who neglect or perverse the duties that their title and position bestow upon them. While his not known to be man of compassion, Marasu does seem to hold some form of kindness towards his crew members and does occasionally treat them like family. Marasu is the type of pirate who would not kill an subordinate for failure, but would instead offer them a chance and only punish them so severely after repeated failures.
- History:
Born as Masaru Nikushimi, Shigaraki was the son of the Pirate Captain George Finston, and a young maiden by the name of Azura Nikushimi. He was born in the North Blue Sea in Lvneel, where his mother worked in a local tavern who occasionally attracted the attention of Pirates. Captain Finston fell in love with Yua while docked in Lvneel, and courted her by bringing her gifts from his travels out on the sea. Yua's parents did not approve of pirating, as his grandfather was a retired Marine, and therefore, after six months of courting the two would marry in secret away from her parent’s eyes. She would give him her last name in order to hide his connections and legacy to Captain Finston, fearing rivals or enemies would seek her son harm. Soon enough, Captain Finston would return home to find a baby boy being cradled in his wife’s arms. Proud to be a father, Captain Finston vowed to protect his family no matter the cost, and to do whatever he could to provide for them. Though, Masaru's mother urged him to retire as a pirate and live with them, Captain Finston knew that it was the only way that he would be able to provide for his family.
Growing up, Masaru was always a smart and perceptive kid, and he had a knack for books and loved to hear the various stories and adventures that his father would tell him. He would occasionally remark that when he grew up he wanted to be a famous treasure hunter, and to find all the lost treasures that have been lost to the world. At one time, he even mentioned that he wanted to be a pirate, but his mother quickly chastised him and forced him to promise that he would never take on a life of piracy. She forced his mother to agree with her, and he told his son that a life of piracy was ‘not for the faint of heart’ and he even swallowed his pride and encouraged his son to become a marine instead. Mainly, because Captain Finston understood the evils of the World Government, and believed that this would be the best way to protect his son.
Eventually Marasu’s ambition and stubbornness would get the best of Captain Finston. After Marasu made multiple failed attempts to join another pirate crew, Captain Finston realized his son’s desire could not be stomped out, and therefore agreed to allow Marasu to join his crew. At the age of eighteen, Captain Finston would take Marasu on his first mission, as some sort of coming of age celebration or ritual. The mission would end in disaster when a Marine ship would ambush his father’s crew, after the former managed to successfully attain the valuable treasure. Barely able to keep up with the struggle, Masaru's father sacrificed his life in order to save him. Before he died, Captain Finston was able to get his son to a life boat with the valuable treasure, and cover his escape. Marasu spent a couple of days or weeks stranded at sea, he would eventually open the valuable treasure, and gleefully ate the fruit that was in it. Masaru, close to death, would later be saved by fisherman and taken to Briss. He would the take the name Shigaraki to cover up his connections to his father.

Personality: A word that is often used to describe Masaru is awkward, or weird. That is mainly due to the fact that, Masaru is not a man of many words, and for the most part, he serves as a quiet observer of his surroundings. In many social situations, you would never find Masaru to be the center of attention, and he would largely stick to the side-lines of a group instead of the center. Most would often mistake this for being shy or anxious, but that is of course, not entirely true. Masaru admittedly dislikes crowded places and loud groups of people. Though, Masaru does milk this expectation of him being shy, and more often than not, uses this ‘shy’ and ‘anxious’ label to hide and pass suspicion away from him. Most people, however, would more often than not, remark and take note that Masaru is a mischievous little brat and a sarcastic little butt hole who likes to cause trouble. Masaru is known to get under people’s skin just to annoy and irritate them, and he does admittedly find it when people lose their composure. Seemingly loyal to his captain or whoever his superior is, Masaru is known to be a master of manipulation and deception, preferring such methods over physical force. For the most part, Masaru is mainly calculated and collected, and occasionally appears to be an air-head and playful due to the fact that he pretends not to pay attention, and even childish. Only the weariest of aware of Masaru's true nature, which is a manipulative and venomous serpent. But this playful air headed façade is nothing more than a mask carefully constructed to hide his true motivations and nature.
