They thought him the necessary tools to survive, defend himself and look out for himself. The fact that he grew up together with monkeys shows in some of Bang's traits. At a certain point at age 14 Bang went out to sea all by himself ignoring the warnings and the direct instructions to not do so of his foster parents.
Instead of a succesful voyage to whatever country, he shipwrecked and woke up on the deck of a Marine ship. A battleclass vessel. He was fished from the sea by a Marine crew. Instead of being grateful, Bang immediately ran away when the ship docked at an island. Bang hasn't ever been in direct contact with humans being the reason of that.
The marine ship docked at Water 7 for it needed repairs/upgrades or anything like that. When Bang ran off he immediately sought out food and so he ended up stealing a month's worth of food. When cornered by two simple Marine soldiers, Bang ended up beating them and then ran off again with a sack full of food onto the roofs. Incidents like this kept happening for Bang being hungry a lot and having a large appetite. He was often found fighting simpletons including civillians and low-ranked Marine soldiers. Most often he was underestimated for being a child.
After a few months Bang had accumulated a bounty of 4000 beli and was infamously known throughout Water 7 for stealing food. He ended up secretly entering a ship of pirates because he was done with Water 7: bored once again.
During the voyage of the pirate ship the pirates had found out Bang was aboard. In a direct confrontation, Bang was defeated by the captain of the ship: Sandro. However, instead of being thrown into the sea or something like that, Sandro invited Bang to join them. Bang being offered plenty of food and fun accepted the invitation and was then part of a pirate crew known as the Sandro Pirates.
For approximately four years, Bang was sailing under the flag of the Sandro Pirates. The Sandro Pirates were quite an agressive pirate crew: plundering towns, often found fighting Marines or other pirate crews. All done so in order to keep the crew healthy and alive. In fact, the Sandro Pirates only defended themselves and never sought out a fight in the first place. Somewhere in this period Bang got a hold of the Swirl Swirl fruit, a Paramecia type Devil Fruit that turned him into a Swirl Human. It was at the age of 19 that Bang together with the Sandro Pirates found themselves struggling against an opponent crew that was way out of their league.
The Sandro Pirates got wiped out by a Marine crew. The leader of an unknown rank in the Navy was named Matthew. During his four years with the Sandro Pirates, Bang had accumulated a bounty of unknown proportion and therefore was captured instead of killed. Instead of being brought to justice by the Marines, he was turned over to a bounty hunter who then turned Bang into the Marines again. Bang swore to himself he would get revenge for Sandro and the rest of the crew against the Marine soldier who was leading the operation and battle against them. He ended up in Impel Down. A fearless monster full of bloodlust trying to get the attention of the one Marine he swore revenge on Bang ended up brutally killing any man or woman he was able to touch. Because he was uncontrollable, they ended up imprisoning Bang through actually penetrating him with metal bars against the wall and even then chaining him up (as seen on the picture at the very top). The chain that was around his head and mouth was made of seastone to cancel out his devil fruit powers and also to keep his mouth shut. Even then Bang never gave up on trying to escape. He tore his entire body apart trying to get himself out of the bars and chains albeit there was no succes. His screams, filled with anger together with the absurd way of chaining Bang up is one of many infamous tales/stories people tell each other when speaking about Impel Down.
For 25 years Bang was force fed and imprisoned in the way that was described. During this 25 years Bang lost consciousness and was actually in a state of coma for an unkown period of time. When he was comatosed, they got rid of the metal bars that had been penetrating his body and only used chains for Bang had turned quiet when he came back from his coma and the need of metal bars was no longer there. He had lost track of time and lost interest in about anything. Still, he didn't want to die even though he couldn't care less about life and death. One year ago, Bang was visited by a Marine officer who didn't state his name. He came bringing the news of a Marine known by the name of Matthew. The official knew which name he screamed out for years till he entered coma. Matthew. It appeared that Matthew was corrupt and dirty. Before Bang was brought to justice, he was delivered to a bounty hunter in order to actually get the bounty that was on Bang's head for a Marine wouldn't get the million beli bounty for turning a pirate in. Not only was this the case that happened on numerous uncountable occasions. Matthew was also running guns and other forbidden trades. The Navy then offered Bang a job because they didn't want The World Government to lose face for Matthew was still a Marine in function.
They got rid of the chains.
They gave him a location.
They filled him with purpose.
Bang, his body red of the blood, reported back to a Marine who was assigned to the Den Den Mushi that was connected to the one Bang had gotten.
After Bang's revenge was exacted, Bang was drafted into the Navy about three months ago. He started off with a clean slate, he served his time, his bounty was gone but not forgotten. A Marine captain is considered a strong Marine officer whose experience and battle performance are forces to be reckoned with: a rank given to Bang right from the get-go. This is also due to the fact that he has eaten a Devil Fruit.

Also, based on the current lore, a 20 million berries bounty is not something you easily get pardoned from unless, say, you were granted the shichibukai commission. I'm sorry, but you will need to rewrite your history to omit these.

He is very playful in and out of combat. He loves to mess with his opponents. His moral compass makes Bang one of few who might not obey an order because he has his own opinion of good and evil. He believes being a pirate does not essentially make one a criminal for example.
Being as lazy as he is, he tends to fall asleep when he isn't interested in a topic of discussion et cetera.
Instead of normally taking a seat, Bang prefers to lean on his knuckles between his legs just like how a gorilla walks around.

Born in the Wano Country in the New World, Bang grew up in one of the many snowy mountains Wano has to offer. His biological parents remain a mystery to him yet he was told his name by those who took care of him: a band of ape Minks. A group of four ape Minks ranked from old to young: Waldwick (a male Albino Gorilla Mink), Nocera (a female Cotton-Top Tamarin Mink), Isaiah (a male Spider Monkey Mink) and Lindford (a male Gorilla Mink). They thought him the necessary tools to survive, defend himself and look out for himself. The fact that he grew up together with monkeys shows in some of Bang's traits. At a certain point at age 14 Bang went out to sea all by himself ignoring the warnings and the direct instructions to not do so of his foster parents.
Instead of a succesful voyage to whatever country, he shipwrecked and woke up on the deck of a Marine ship. A battleclass vessel. He was fished from the sea by a Marine crew. Instead of being grateful, Bang immediately ran away when the ship docked at an island. Bang hasn't ever been in direct contact with humans being the reason of that.
The marine ship docked at Water 7 for it needed repairs/upgrades or anything like that. When Bang ran off he immediately sought out food and so he ended up stealing a month's worth of food. When cornered by two simple Marine soldiers, Bang ended up beating them and then ran off again with a sack full of food onto the roofs. Incidents like this kept happening for Bang being hungry a lot and having a large appetite. He was often found fighting simpletons including civillians and low-ranked Marine soldiers. Most often he was underestimated for being a child.
After a few months Bang had accumulated a bounty of 4000 beli and was infamously known throughout Water 7 for stealing food. He ended up secretly entering a ship of pirates because he was done with Water 7: bored once again.
During the voyage of the pirate ship the pirates had found out Bang was aboard. In a direct confrontation, Bang was defeated by the captain of the ship: Sandro. However, instead of being thrown into the sea or something like that, Sandro invited Bang to join them. Bang being offered plenty of food and fun accepted the invitation and was then part of a pirate crew known as the Sandro Pirates.
For approximately four years, Bang was sailing under the flag of the Sandro Pirates. The Sandro Pirates were quite an agressive pirate crew: plundering towns, often found fighting Marines or other pirate crews. All done so in order to keep the crew healthy and alive. In fact, the Sandro Pirates only defended themselves and never sought out a fight in the first place. Somewhere in this period Bang got a hold of the Swirl Swirl fruit, a Paramecia type Devil Fruit that turned him into a Swirl Human. It was at the age of 19 that Bang together with the Sandro Pirates found themselves struggling against an opponent crew that was way out of their league.
The Sandro Pirates got wiped out by a Marine crew. The leader of an unknown rank in the Navy was named Matthew. During his four years with the Sandro Pirates, Bang had accumulated a bounty of unknown proportion and therefore was captured instead of killed. Instead of being brought to justice by the Marines, he was turned over to a bounty hunter who then turned Bang into the Marines again. Bang swore to himself he would get revenge for Sandro and the rest of the crew against the Marine soldier who was leading the operation and battle against them. He ended up in Impel Down. A fearless monster full of bloodlust trying to get the attention of the one Marine he swore revenge on Bang ended up brutally killing any man or woman he was able to touch. Because he was uncontrollable, they ended up imprisoning Bang through actually penetrating him with metal bars against the wall and even then chaining him up (as seen on the picture at the very top). The chain that was around his head and mouth was made of seastone to cancel out his devil fruit powers and also to keep his mouth shut. Even then Bang never gave up on trying to escape. He tore his entire body apart trying to get himself out of the bars and chains albeit there was no succes. His screams, filled with anger together with the absurd way of chaining Bang up is one of many infamous tales/stories people tell each other when speaking about Impel Down.
For 25 years Bang was force fed and imprisoned in the way that was described. During this 25 years Bang lost consciousness and was actually in a state of coma for an unkown period of time. When he was comatosed, they got rid of the metal bars that had been penetrating his body and only used chains for Bang had turned quiet when he came back from his coma and the need of metal bars was no longer there. He had lost track of time and lost interest in about anything. Still, he didn't want to die even though he couldn't care less about life and death. Using his bodyweight, his fellow cell mates, the walls and the chains Bang trained himself for all those years till...
One year ago, Bang was visited by a Marine officer who didn't state his name. He came bringing the news of a Marine known by the name of Matthew. The official knew which name he screamed out for years till he entered coma. Matthew. It appeared that Matthew was corrupt and dirty. Before Bang was brought to justice, he was delivered to a bounty hunter in order to actually get the bounty that was on Bang's head for a Marine wouldn't get the million beli bounty for turning a pirate in. Not only was this the case that happened on numerous uncountable occasions. Matthew was also running guns and other forbidden trades. The Navy then offered Bang a job because they didn't want The World Government to lose face for Matthew was still a Marine in function.
They got rid of the chains.
They gave him a location.
They filled him with purpose.
Bang, his body red of the blood, reported back to a Marine who was assigned to the Den Den Mushi that was connected to the one Bang had gotten.
After Bang's revenge was exacted, Bang was drafted into the Navy about three months ago. He started off with a clean slate, he served his time, his bounty was gone but not forgotten. A Marine captain is considered a strong Marine officer whose experience and battle performance are forces to be reckoned with: a rank given to Bang right from the get-go. This is also due to the fact that he has eaten a Devil Fruit.
