He was once a bounty hunter but now is label as The thing who should just go away. At the moment he travels the world looking for bounties to hunt. But in truth he is just looking for a good fight.

Also, if he is a bounty hunter, then the marines would know that he is alive. Unless he's operating under an alias. ] He is ranged because of the many units of marines and rebels he has defeated the world has dubbed him the strongest creature in the world be it Air Land Or Sea.
