Personality: Emanuel has a very two-sided personality; giving off the impression of a dutiful, personable, calm, and strict marine even though his overall nature and motives are in fact much darker and duplicitous. Little tends to get under his skin and he isn't afraid to assert himself or insult others when annoyed or offended. It isn’t out-of-character for him to delight in mockery and sarcasm towards those who annoy him or making rather flippant comments just to give anyone on his bad side a hard time.

Emanuel's outer persona takes his position very seriously and operates very much by-the-book when it suits him. He doesn’t abide by laziness and can be exceedingly brave, ruthless, and methodical when the situation demands to the point of fighting powerful enemies when he feels he has the upper hand. He protects the common citizen, empathizes with people, and is genuinely loathe to allow innocent deaths. He dislikes common thieves and criminals, but enjoys having fun, has a broad field of interests, and can show a more open and playful demeanor from time to time.

Underneath the outward veneer of professionalism though, Emanuel does have more devious, willful, ambitious, and calculating side. He is actually quite the dirty trickster and is comfortable playing loose with the rules whenever he feels he can get away with it. These include using underhanded methods such as deception, bribery, and even betrayal when necessary to achieve his ends. Although he keeps himself rather close to the law, he doesn’t particularly respect his superiors and holds rather jaded, disrespectful opinions of them. And when the law keeps him from doing what he wishes, then he feels no problem skirting it and can sometimes even be much worse than pirates and criminals themselves in the methods he’s willing to employ.

While he does try to at least honor his word and commitments, he does not value honor very highly and doesn't have too many qualms with manipulating and conniving others into doing what he wants or taking the quickest, cheapest route if it can be used to advance his position and/or interests.

There are many things that tend to capture his attention, but Emanuel tends to undergo cycles of intensive fixation and frustration. He is especially curious and self-driven, though ultimately self-serving in his desire to expand his skills and repertoire. Most of the time, this agenda of his tends to include personal power, money, or increased rank/status and he is willing to go far to achieve or find whatever is the object of his most recent focus. At worst, the strength of his fixation can sometimes reach the point of making him both irrational and highly aggressive.
