Emi Roromiya
Basic Character Information
Starting Bonus: Jackpot | [Starting Bonus Roll]
First Name: Emi
Middle Name/Initial: N/A
Last Name: Roromiya
Epithet: Smiling Slayer
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession: Navigator/ Swordswoman/ Fighter
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 130 lbs.
Hair Style: Short, almost bob length with shoulder-length bits on either side of her face. Her bangs fall onto her face and she has one pesky hair atop her head that won't be tamed.
Hair Color: Lime Green
Eye Color: Lime Green
Scars: 3" Diagonal scar on her back.
Clothing and Accessories: Emi normally doesn't care about what she's wearing or about what kind of messages they may send to those around her. She likes finding something that is comfortable and pulling it on whatever it may be. She wears a lot of tank tops or spaghetti strap shirts and short shorts in a variety of colors and a variety of styles. Most of her shorts appear to be beyond help most of the time but she continues to wear them anyway. If she ever dares to step towards a skirt it usually has a pair of shorts or leggings beneath it because she doesn't really like them that much. When it comes to shoes, she likes to wear knee-high combat boots, flip flops or even opt to go barefoot if she can get away with it. On winter weather islands, she will wear skinny type jeans of any variety and a sweater with a short black fur-lined coat over top with a lime green scarf and matching hat. She wears her two swords at her right hip and she carries a bag that holds all the things that are necessary for her to get by. Her look, no matter the weather or island, is never fully complete until she has a pair of lime green goggles atop her head or around her neck.
Description: Emi has a slim and straight build that makes her resemble something like a stick. She isn't really blessed in the chest department and her hips don't really make up for it either. She stands at a height of 5'5" and she weighs about 130 pounds. She doesn't really look like much considering her build but she has built muscle up in her legs, upper arms, and stomach. Her skin is pale peach in color due to it being near impossible for her to get tan or burn. It is somewhat rough to the touch because she doesn't have any secret girl techniques to make it softer nor does she care to. She appears to have very little flaws on her skin such as scars but there are light ones that plague her skin. The only exception to this is a scar located in the middle of her back spanning 3" at a diagonal.
Emi's face is shaped like that of a heart, which helps bring her face together nicely and emphasize her oval, lime green eyes. Her hair is similar in color to her eyes if not a shade lighter and a majority of it falls to the nape of her neck. Her hair falls onto her face and frames it rather nicely. On each side, she has thick chunks of hair that fall a couple of inches past her shoulders. One part of her bangs falls directly between her eyes over her nose while the rest of it falls just above her eyes. Her hair looks to be a mess most of the time as she doesn't normally bother to comb through it. She has one particular hair that she can't seem to tame no matter how much she combs or brushes it, at the top of her head although it is a rather short strand. She typically doesn't do much with her hair at all but if it does get particularly annoying she might pin her bangs back with a bobby pin or whatever she can find to do that job.
The Past
Main Traits: Enthusiastic, Energetic, Nonchalant, Impulsive
Likes: Swords, Adventure, Food, Nakama
Dislikes: 'Bad' guys, Negativity, Bullies, Cooking
Unique laugh: Shiheeheehee~
Hometown: Baterilla, South Blue
Personality: Emi can be seen as a rather happy go lucky girl who rarely lets things bother her. She doesn't get hung up on small details and generally goes with the flow of things. She loves to have fun and that sometimes can lead to trouble or even just a good time. The girl tends to remain unconcerned about the future or even the consequence of her actions. She acts sometimes purely on feeling and this does typically get her into trouble. She is a naturally curious person and tends to not stop pursuing something until it leads to said trouble. She loves adventures and her curiosity can sometimes sate her thirst for adventure. Most people who don't really know her would probably find her way too happy all the time even if there isn't anything wrong with that.
Em can come off as rather naive as she is rather trusting of individuals even if it is her first time meeting someone. One might see this as her seeing the good in everyone, which only partially describes her. She is also just kind of dumb when it comes to people and just assumes that everyone is like her; happy and excited about meeting new people. She isn't stupid enough to keep thinking that someone is worthy of trust if they show their intentions visibly to her such as attacking her or other people. That's when her sense of justice kicks in, which may seem strange for a girl who is a pirate. She doesn't like it when people do things wrong or who don't treat people right, which are usually people who had shown that they are kind to her. She will not hesitate to set these 'bad' people right by a swell kick to the butt. This oftentimes gets her mistaken for a marine instead of a pirate. She usually responds to this with a smile and a declaration that she is in fact a pirate.
Emi is usually a rather chill individual who generally doesn't find many reasons to get mad and even then not full-blown mad. She just kinds of throws out insults that make no sense to someone that has made her mad but never truly stays mad long. Her fuse is typically a long one and so it takes something major to truly knock her into rage mode. This generally happens when the people she cares about are being harmed and sometimes even those who she deems as innocent. She'll quickly defend the innocent bystanders but she isn't burning angry when retaliating unlike when her nakama are harmed whether she knew them for a few minutes or longer. She also hates it when people assume that just because she's a girl it means that she can't kick their ass and will proceed to prove them wrong. The only other time that she will get mad, which also makes her a great friend, is when her nakama decide that they don't believe in themselves or want to give up on their dreams. She believes in the friends she makes even if she's only known them for a short time period and she won't let them tear themselves down. She'll instead give them a kick in the ass to get them going once again towards their dreams. She supports her friends and it almost makes her look like a cheerleader.
- History:
Emi Roromiya was born on the island of Baterilla located somewhere in the South Blue and was raised by her mother with the aid of her grandparents. She never really got to see her father as he was a man of the sea and rarely came to visit. She can't recall ever truly getting to meet her father if so she might have only seen him when she was a baby and has since forgotten. She wasn't without knowledge of her father and who he was because her mother and grandparents would both tell her about him. However, their opinions differed and she preferred listening to what her mother had to say about him. This was always her favorite part of the day when she was younger and always looked forward to the stories about her father's adventures. Some of these stories were true while some weren't because her mother didn't get to see him very often either.
When Emi was old enough, her mother started to let her go to the village that they lived outside of to play. Even though they didn't live that far outside of the village, it was easier to wait until she was old enough to take care of herself. This was when she started to get picked on even if that wasn't how she saw it. She never once let this get to her, in fact, she just thought that they were all friends messing around. She would just laugh it all off when they would poke fun at her usually things that they heard their parent's whispering. It wasn't exactly a secret that her father was a pirate who never bothered to visit. She didn't seem to care despite them telling her that she had stupid hair or that she looked stupid because she smiled all the time.
These things only seemed to escalate the older that all of them got. She would return home with cuts and bruises covering her but with a smile on her face. There were times that her grandparents thought that maybe there might be something wrong with her but she was a normal, happy kid. She was stupid in some senses but not overly so and she truly thought that the kids in the town were her friends. This remained true even when she had to receive care for a large cut on her back. It had hurt but she didn't see any harm in it. She had just fallen while she had been playing with the other kids.
This had been the last straw for her mother and grandparents who had tried to tell their parents that they didn't like the way she was being treated. They didn't see how other people, adults, had no qualms with the girl but the kids would still find a reason to be mean to her. Once the wound on her back healed up she was sent off to learn swordsmanship so that she could defend herself. Of course, they wouldn't expect her to fight them off with a sword but at least she'd learn what ill intent the kids appeared to have.
Emi trained for years off the island with her teacher Ryuu, who trained her long and hard. She was a pesky student to teach but even he found a way to motivate the girl into focusing. She was rather fascinated in the idea of swordsmanship but as a child her attention span wasn't all the greatest. There were times that she missed her home and especially the stories about her father's adventures.
It would be during this time that her interest in navigating would also be sparked. This mainly happened as she observed the navigator upon the ship that took her to the island where she would learn her swordsmanship. In her downtime when she wasn't training, she would have her nose in a book on the subject. Her teacher, Ryuu, would also use this as a way to bribe the young Emi from time to time to get her to listen. After a while, of course, he didn't have to try as hard to keep her attention but would still reward her with navigation books. She still had yet to test these skills as she learned them other than carting maps. It was only after 6 long years of training that she returned home with a katana at her hip. Her teacher had gifted it to her before she left for home as an award for her hard work.
She was welcomed back to the village with open arms from those who had actually missed her and a party was thrown in her honor. There was food as far as the eye could see and nothing made her happier than seeing everyone again. This included the kids that had been picking on her before she had left. She was pulled aside by these kids who were now teenagers and offered something as an apology. She happily took it but soon found that it was just them up to the same things as always. This was explained both by their laughter and the awful, nasty taste of the thing she was given. The food that she had been given was rotten but once again she didn't let it bother her.
After the party, her mother informed her about her father passing away while she was away. She didn't cry upon hearing about his death because she wasn't sad. She didn't remember him but it did make her sad that there wouldn't be any new stories for her to hear. She visited the grave with her mother who told her about how his nakama had returned him back home so that he could be at rest with his family. His life had been the sea but his home was where his loved ones were. She appreciated the respect that they showed them and this made her want to meet these men that had once fought by his side one day.
Emi found the katana that her father had used on the shrine that had been put up in their home to honor him. She got permission from both her mother and grandparents to remove it and use it. She felt as if it would make her closer to him if she kept it with her at all times but also because she had learned how to wield two katanas instead of just one. She trained while she was at home but only after she came up with names for her two swords.
It was after she had visited the grave with her mother that she had decided that she want to go explore the world and go on adventures much like what her father had done before her. She continued to train and work around the village doing odd jobs so that she could save money for her trip. Her grandparents didn't want her going off to do that same foolish thing that their son had done especially since it had eventually killed him but her mother encouraged her. If it was what she truly wanted then she had no reason to stop her. The last thing that she received from her mother was her blessing as well as give the money that she had received from her father's crew. It had been meant to keep their family from ever wanting anything but her mother felt it would be better used by Emi to follow the same dream as her father. It was upon her 17th birthday that she loaded up a fishing boat from the village and set sail for great adventures, of course, after practicing sailing around the island. She very well couldn't sail the seas if she couldn't put her navigating skills into play.
