Main Traits
Supporting Cast
The Mistress of Ceremonies is a true showman, enjoying her brief moments in the spotlight, she sees her role as that of a cheerleader: to inspire and hype her allies up to greater heights and achievements!
Heart of a Maiden//Heart of the Okama
Despite her rough-and-tumble presentation, Jolene has very stereotypically feminine interests and desires; she enjoys cosmetics, shopping, the idea of getting married, and heavily romanticizes her life as a maiden.
Due to her upbringing, Jolene has a queer outlook on life, particularly as it pertains to expressions of gender and sexuality. Despite being a woman she considers herself a member of the Okama, and gets along well with other queers, having made acquaintances with many of them during her 16 years on Momoiro.
Flirtatious
She’s a bit overly friendly with people of all genders, a product of her Okama upbringing and her natural inclinations.
Sadistic
Jolene enjoys using her large stature and musculature to throw people around and hurt them. She particularly enjoys emasculating men who make unwanted advances.
Likes: Makeup, Gold, Diamonds, Rubies, Romance (her own or the romances of others), Roughhousing, Cute animals
Dislikes: Manly men, Overly serious people, Inequity, Nobility, Cities
Unique Laughs: Miraku-ku-ku-ku-ku!(Boisterous laugh), Gya-ru-ru-ru-ru!(Drunken or complimentary laugh), Yari-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-man~ (Promiscuous chitter)
Hometown: Momoiro Island
Personality: Jolene is ruthlessly optimistic and stubborn, she believes the world of her friends and believes that they can accomplish anything with enough support. However this bright demeanor conceals a deep sense of guilt, she has failed her friends before, and she hopes that she will never do so again. She cherishes each friendship deeply, not wishing to lose them in the same way as her old roommates.
She has been subjected to the degradation of nobility and authority figures throughout the entirety of her adult life and despises members of both groups. She enjoys exploiting, manipulating, blackmailing, and humiliating those in power, and rebels vehemently against those who would abuse their power.
She is greedy and materialistic, but has known poverty, and thus wastes nothing. She enjoys jewelry, perfumes, clothing, and fine food; and desperately savors each, she will use every drop of perfume, wear clothing until it wears down to tatters, and lick a plate clean if there’s even a hint of nutrition or flavor left on it.
The difference between her performative and earnest flirtations are somewhat obvious. With those she wishes to exploit, she will be forwards, dominant, and seductive; with those she earnestly has romantic feelings for, she is doting, complimentary, and subservient.
She considers herself a cheerleader for her fellow revolutionaries rather than a soldier of its frontline or a proper leader; she is reticent to take on difficult tasks on her own, as she is insecure and has doubted her own abilities since her stay in prison.
The Past
- History:
Jolene is a girl who was raised by Okama, washing up on Momoiro island on a tiny boat, the baby girl was found by a kind and happy group of queers. Growing up with them, she learned to be a proud, boisterous, ostentatious young lady who wouldn’t stand idly by and accept the world’s unfairness.
Learning the arts of grappling and Okama Kenpo from her family, the young lady became a formidable opponent for anybody who would threaten her or her fellow queers; a fact set all the more in stone by the Longleg woman’s high stature and strong muscular development. Learning Okama Kenpo under the renowned Master Sploosh, the young lady honed both her kicks and her resolve into tools that could be used to crush lesser men.
At the age of 16 in a battle against a group of manly pirates who came to the island wishing to recapture their escaped “brother”, Jolene overcame the strength of an ability user and kicked his head in, freeing the devil of his fruit. The Puff Puff fruit Quickly reincarnated into a nearby banana, which, wanting the ability for herself; and on the brink of not being able to chase off the rest of the pirates, she ate, granting her its power.
With the help of her Devil Djinn, affectionately named Rex for the ghost’s kingly appearance, Jolene was able to dispatch a full pirate crew and claim their ship for herself. This would spark the girl’s wanderlust, and in a couple of weeks, the teenage girl was able to gather together a small group of young Okama to embark on the Blue Seas.
Arriving in the East Blue, the teenagers quickly found that the life of a sailor was much more demanding than they had initially thought. Though they each ventured out to sea with grand ambitions, these dreams were quickly shattered beneath the weight of the real world; once they had been spit up and chewed out by the hard life of a sailor, the kids settled down in the slums of the Gray Terminal of Goa Kingdom.
Living a squalid life in a tenement they could barely afford the youths, each of the other young queers was able to pick up a profession; but though she was competent enough to learn many things, Jolene was impatient and unreliable as a teenager, and was never able to keep a job for long. Even despite their close bonds, her roommates eventually came to resent her for her inability to contribute.
Her longest-lasting job between the ages of 16 and 18 was as a construction worker, where she assisted a crew in casting and constructing frameworks for building developments, melting down recycled scrap from the junkyard mountains of the Terminal in order to build it into a place worth living. Still, even this work wasn’t made to last.
Due to her large stature and reputation for brawling, a local gang took an interest in the girl; and faced with the choice of working for them or endangering her mentor, she was forced into the Terminal’s criminal element. Jolene adapted quickly, it was as though she’d found a second home amongst the rough-and-tumble members of The Glitterstud gang.
With more work than she’d ever had before, Jolene began plying her trade, improving the gangs hideout and helping to defend it as a bodyguard; protecting the gang gave the girl purpose, knowing that her allies were terrorizing the folks up in high town only made her work back at the base more fulfilling. In addition, she was able to provide a life of relative luxury to her roommates and even allowed one of the Okama with a health condition to live at home without working on her dollar.
The Glitterstuds stole from the rich, and gave to the poor amongst the Gray Terminal, though they were a bit more brutal with their patronage than a group of truly chivalrous thieves. This was Jolene’s first taste of true resistance, it was as though she and her flamboyantly dressed allies were chipping away at some of the world’s unfairness each time they raided the cities.
It was too good to be true, and the girl was only able to pursue this lot in life for a year before it came to an end. The Navy: the protectors of those fortunate enough to find themselves on the “right” side of history, such as the nobility of the Goa kingdom. After crossing the wrong people in town, the Glitterstuds’ hideout was busted, and all its’ members were sentenced according to their level of involvement in the gang.
Jolene was fortunate to find herself charged only with aiding and abetting, and was only given a light sentence of 2 years in a woman’s prison along with monitored community service for an additional 4, due to her youth, and her good looks wooing the almost-entirely male jury.
For the young woman, her stay in prison was all-in-all, not as bad as it could have been; funnily enough, her work in the complex was similar to her time as an engineer, molding scaffolding and firearm parts from scrap metal. Because of her friendliness, domineering personality, and extreme martial arts skills, Jolene was able to establish herself as somebody ‘not to be fucked with’ for the time of her stay.
However her incarceration would not affect Jolene alone, there were people who had come to depend on her. Her sick friend had grown sicker by the day, and no longer had the financial support necessary to buy the medicine that had been ameliorating his condition; likewise, her other Okama roommates were not able to afford the bigger apartment they had moved to with Jolene, and their living situation fell through in an instant.
Jolene hadn’t even thought about how her time in prison would affect her friends, and upon her release, she came back to her old apartment expecting to see her friends still living the life of mild luxury she had been able to help them afford. Instead, the queer girl came home to a bulldozed lot development and a makeshift grave for one of her friends carved into the withering remains of a leafless willow tree. She wouldn’t be entirely alone though, one of her friends had done decently well for himself and remembered the exact day that Jolene was set to be released.
Lieutenant Commander Robert Bowie, formerly an Okama by the name of Aladdin Stardust, had remembered his old “friend” and was happy to inform her of the larger consequences of her actions.
“Prince is dead, Annie is out doing drugs somewhere, and Sylvian headed out hoping to make it back to Momoiro. Not sure how he’s holding up. And you can see what I decided on…” the manly man wore his justice coat with pride, “... if all this queer shit comes at the expense of any sort of security or accomplishment, then it isn’t worth it, I’m giving it up; I’d advise you set yourself straight and do the same Jolene.”
The girl was heartbroken. She’d failed and brought misery to everybody who had relied on her, and she hadn’t even thought of the effects her actions might have on them; and now she was faced with somebody she once called a friend, who had abandoned his pride, and chosen to follow the path of “Justice.” She stared at him with pain, but could conjure no words asides from these:
“I’m not the kind of girl to call it quits that easy.”
With this, Jolene walked away and left for her new life. With nowhere to go, and beholden to nobody she was miserable; but for the first time in her life she could pursue her own path, alone, without the curse of obligation.
Since her release, Jolene has spent several years working as an escort, and as a master of ceremonies for underground fighting rings. She joined the New Revolutionary Army out of a distaste for her wealthy clientele and the societal inequity they represent. She has become a top-class whore, and an even better spy, stealing away whatever information she can collect from her clients to aide her fellow revolutionaries.
