Gladiola Terra Cymbi
Basic Character Information
First Name: Gladiola
Middle Name/Initial: Terra
Last Name: Cymbi
Epithet: N/A
Birthdate: June 1, 1819
Gender: Female
Species/Race/Tribe: Dwarf-Longear Hybrid
Faction: New Rev. Army
Profession: Warrior
Physical Appearance
Height: 3'2"
Weight: 50 lbs
Hair Style: Side Ponytail
Hair Color: Grey
Eye Color: Green
Scars: None
Clothing and Accessories: Gladiola alters between a few outfits.
The most worn one is a white dress that reaches just below her knees along with white shorts. The dress itself is thick and covered with floral designers black, green, and gold in color. In her hair, she has a white piece of cloth that ties the ponytail and a green flower pin stuck into it. Sometimes she can be found with silver bracelets on as well, depending on the occasion. Her feet tend to be bare.
With the Revolutionary Army, her outfit is much more formal. Wearing black cargo pants and a baggy white shirt along with black combat boots, it's an outfit fit for a soldier. Her sword finds its place strapped to her back while dressed like this. She wears no accessories besides a black cloth tying her hair to the side, but she might let the hair flow, in which case it goes past her shoulders.
Description: Being a dwarf, Gladiola has most of the physical traits that come with the tribe. She's short, has a disproportionally large head, and has a child-like appearance (though that may be due to the fact that she's an actual child). The only thing that she doesn't have that a dwarf normally would is a bushy tail, though she isn't sad about that. As far as her Longear heritage goes, Gladiola fits the bill with her pointed ears, but for some reason has worse eyesight than a normal person would.
Besides her racial features, Gladiola has pale skin, piercing green eyes, and silver hair. Her face has round features, including its shape and nose shape. Her eyelashes are long and black, while her eyebrows are thin and black.
The Past
Main Traits: Talkative, Whimsical, Blunt
Likes: Rules, Organization, Snow
Dislikes: Liars, Big Dogs, Heights
Unique laugh: Pee-eee-hee!
Hometown: Orange Town, East Blue
Personality: In a casual setting, Gladiola is a happy girl. There's always a smile on her face and laughs around her. While not a jokester, she can appreciate a good one when it's told. She's a selfless person as well, going as far as to be an empath. Other people's problems tend to end up being her own and she tries her best to help out all of those around her. On the other side, however, she has a short temper and lets little things get to her. The way she responds to things that bother her are by pouting or throwing a temper tantrum in the extreme.
In a combat setting, Gladiola is roughly the same as she is normally. The smile is gone from her face as she tries to focus on her attacks and the battle at hand. With the tenant of perfecting a craft being taught to her, she aims to best execute her arsenal in the most masterful way possible, though she's roughly a decade away from being considered a master at anything. Taunts don't really get to her unless they are particularly offensive, in which she might start to cry and break down, in which case the battle is over in one way or another but she won't continue to fight with tears in her eyes.
- History:
Gladiola was born to a Longear father and a Dwarf mother. The logistics of that, nobody wants to think about, however, it happened. Her father was a pirate, a pretty good one. Constantly on the run from the marines and always looking for an adventure, he was seldom in one place for too long. Towards the height of his travels, Illesk traveled to the Blues in search of a woman suitable to continue his legacy. He's already done the whole "leaving his mark" thing and was starting to get bored of the pirating. He was done by no means but simply taking a break. So in the West Blue he comes across a dwarf woman named Ronan. The two of them get into a battle for the hell of it and she wins by a landslide, her supernatural strength playing a heavy hand in it. One thing leads to another and nine months later Gladiola is born, but Ronan does not survive the birth. Distraught and needing a distraction, Illesk leaves his daughter with an old friend of his in the West Blue and returns to the New World.
This friend was a woman who simply went by her epithet, Babygirl. Now, Baby wasn't a mother, anything but really. There wasn't a maternal bone in her body and she had her hands full with her Revolutionary Army duties. She tried to tell Illesk this, but he was less of a listener and more of a speaker, so by the time she was ready to return Gladiola he was already gone and possibly islands away. But she didn't run an orphanage, and if she was going to take care of a child then they were going to have to work. So that's what happened.
From the moment Gladiola could walk, she had some sort of tool in her hand. During her toddler years, she did menial work like cleaning and arranging things. Even at that age, Baby was pretty strict with the rules of living with her, though she was rarely around to actually enforce them. But she didn't need to, as, after the first punishment (which was a swift smack to the head), Gladiola quickly developed a sense of integrity and discipline. Beginning at the age of 5, she began her combat lessons. Due to her size, it was hard finding conventional weapons for her to use so her weapon of choice ended up being a crudely carved piece of wood that was as large as she was. It was around this time that Baby started to instill revolutionary values into her as well.
Things went this way for a while, up until a few days ago. Out of nowhere, Babygirl disappeared. She got a letter and left, abandoning Gladiola. What made this different from all the other times, however, was the not that was left behind. It read:
Hey kid, I'm heading out. I don't know if I'll be back or when I'll be back, but just in case I need you to do something for me. Your dad, the deadbeat, wants you to go looking for him. He's somewhere probably, I don't know he didn't exactly tell me where. I know you can do it if you set your mind to it, and maybe with a little help. Seek the Revs, they'll give you a home and some work. Save up. Go find him.

So Gladiola did what she said, lest she gets punished if Babygirl did come back. Taking a cleaver with her over her wooden sword, she set out for the nearest army recruitment center.
