Justice Protective Justice - The first priority is the life of those at his back
Hometown: Sparrow Island - North Blue
Personality: John is best described as a gentleman and a pragmatist. Much of his life has been spent around high society and/or scientists and thinkers. Above all else he learnt two things; 1. How to be a man of manners and 2. That there is no such thing as an unsolvable issue. With others he is outgoing and attempts to be personable in all his interactions regardless of if you are his superior or subordinate or equal. To those who don't know him and those he is charged to protect he puts on an air of strength, not to be arrogant, but to give them a sense of security. Those who do know him well find a man who is well-intentioned but just as lost as everyone else in this world.
John believes in Protective Justice above all else. A marine must prioritize the saving and protecting of innocent and defenseless people above all; even the capture of villains. To that end he works to become a man powerful enough that the threat of his presence is enough to save everyone behind him.
In combat John believes in removing threats quickly and efficiently; his style of fighting is brutal; using his abilites to soak hits and dish them back until his enemies surrender or pose no threat. He has nothing against running away from an unwinnable fight as long as he gave all civilians a chance to escape. There is one caveat; if a child or a friend is at his back he will gladly choose death over leaving them to die. He won't let them.
- History:
Sparrow Island is a large is land in the North Blue that most would initially confuse for uninhabited due to the massive forests that sorround it's outer regions. In truth the island is something of a conservatory controlled by the Kingdom of Verde; housing countless different types of trees, plants and flowers brought in from across the Blues and the Grand Line as well as the songbird for which the island is named. The kingdom makes much of it's wealth from controlled logging; selling largely to shipwrights.
When John was born the Royal family consisted of; King Leo (40), Queen Amara (passed away), Queen Rose(31), Crown Prince Luca (15) [by Amara], Princess Anna (13) [by Amara], Prince Isaac(10) [by Amara], Princess Maria (5) [by Rose], Prince John (0) [by Rose].
John was born to the Albero ruling family; the 5th child; and 2nd born of the 2nd queen. Having been born so far from the throne it was obvious that he was not set to inherit the kingdom; still as a noble son, royal no less, he was raised in the appropriate manner; etiquette, studies, training and combat were a part of his daily life as it was for all his siblings. Though there was never any animosity between the siblings, age and blood meant that he spent more time with his sister than any of his half-siblings. In his childhood John excelled primarily in the art of botany. He was by no means a slouch in his other classes be it etiquette or combat; but it was obvious to all who knew him that he had a natural gift for plants and extracting their properties. Normally such talent would be cultivated elsewhere; but Sparrow Island was one of the greatest botanical havens on the sea and his botany tutors were the most renowned experts on the island.
Of all his memories growing up John remembers many long expeditions into the massive forest with his mentors (and a few royal guards); there he was taught all about the natural world of botany, types of plants, properties, cultivation methods and cycles. Of all his memories those were some of his favorites. When he was home he was tutored in the ways of nobility, spent time with family and friends (usually other nobles) or simply enjoyed the high living of noble life. There were some struggles and downs, but in many ways it could be called a near perect upbringing.
At the age of 18 it was announced that the Amber Kingdom of Flevance and the Verde Kingdom of Sparrow Island were to conduce a sort of cultural exchange between kingdoms. One research team from each island would gather together to use their respective knowledge bases of botany and medicine for the betterment of all. The team would spend 2 years in Flevance gathering materials and 2 more researching them using Flevance's medical expertise. Although John was not quite at the level of his superiors he was a prince of the kingdom with talent and so he was invited to join the research fellowship. Although he didn't like the idea of taking such a prestigious seat at his current skill, he was duty-bound to accept. And so in the year 1822 the research began.
The 2 years at Sparrow island were largely uneventful right up until the end; while digging up the last of their samples the research team unearthed an amazing find. A Devil Fruit hiding deep within Sparrow islands forests. This exciting find was taken along with the samples to be tested at Flevance. When the team reached Flevance, John would spend almost all his free time assisting the team. Between their DF research and their botany research it left the team with little time to themselves (and even them some of them had to be torn away from work at times.) Then during their 3rd year of study the legendary Conquerer's War began. It shook the world and reached all the way to North Blue. John noted that the last year and a half of their research period saw a vicious uptick in pirate activity.
It was near the very end that their research facility was raided by a pirate hoard and their security overwhelmed. It was never clear if they came for him, the Devil Fruit, because they assumed they were an easy targer or simply fate. Before the raid ended three of their team members would be killed. While trained to fight, John stood no chance against a group of pirates just on his own. All he could do was hold them off and redirect them using his superior knowledge of the facility. His resistance bought just enough time for reinforcements to arrive and save his comrades at the cost of his scar. Ultimately some of the pirates escaped with the Devil Fruit in hand.
The whole event left a bad taste in his mouth but the research team pushed on in the name of their dead comrades. They released their papers later that year and for his contributions and sacrifice the Flevance medical society granted him the title of Dr. and each of the surviving members were gifted a watch made of pure amber lead. John treats it like a treasure.
John would return to Sparrow Island and busy himself with earning the title he'd been given, but he couldn't stop thinking of his experience. He had always lived a life of comfort; a hard working life but one of endless security. Not only did he desire to go back to doing more for the world than living a princely life; he couldn't stop thinking of all the people in the world that lived in terror of pirates. He had walls and guards and a title to hide behind; and others had nothing. The Conquerer had unleashed a wave of pirates and all at once it struck him that the worst day he'd ever had was the everyday of people across the Four Blues and the Grand Line. Further more the thought that a devil fruit that belonged to his home was being used to further the cause of piracy, that he wasn't strong enough to keep it safe, was more than he could stand.
John spent a year recovering before he left Sparrow Island. In that time stories had begun to circulate of the prince who fought off a pirate horde. Suddenly he became the talk of the town and topics such as marriage began to show up in conversation. A particuarly good noble candidate by the name of Rose was invited over a few times and she and John actually got on quite well. In another life John Albero would be married and settle for a life of ease on Sparrow Island. But John couldn't let the thoughts of that day go.
Against his family's wishes he joined the Navy where, due to his medical background he was required to go through only basic training before gaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He enlisted under his mother's maiden name for fear that his royal name would attract more trouble than it was worth. Funny enough his hard sytle of fighting and penchant for fine dress would earn him the nickname Iron Prince anyway. He half expected to be returned home as Sparrow Island was a World Government nation and it would have been a simple matter to take him home; the fact it hasn't happened is his proof that his father has chosen to respect his wishes even as they disagree. Now at the end of basic training John awaits to be transfered to a new crew and begin his career helping others.

In your history, you had a stray "a joke" sentence written. I've deleted it to approved the bio (see the quoted bio below to see what I mean).
