Shirogane Yūgo
Basic Character Information
First Name: Yūgo
Middle Name/Initial: N/A
Last Name: Shirogane
Epithet:
Birthdate: April 9th, 1806
Gender: Male
Species/Race/Tribe: Human
Faction: Unaffiliated
Profession: Hunter
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'5
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair Style: Semi-long slick casket of mostly unchecked bangs.
Hair Color: Mercury gray
Eye Color: Violet
Scars: None.
Clothing and Accessories: Yugo wears a sleeveless fishnet shirt underneath a gray colored chest armor made of leather. A single shoulder pad and a leather glove adorn his dominant left hand. He also sports light colored long trousers tucked away in a pair of blusih colored rubbery jika-tabi boots. He also has a leather choker and a golden earring on his left ear. On his waist and thighs he secures a pair of belts where he can attach pouches or other kinds of equipment.
Description: By all intents and purposes, Yugo is of pretty lithe build. His muscles are defined but not as sharp or defined as you'd find on top tier athletes of the same age.
The Past
Main Traits: Honest, Loyal, Quiet, Stubborn, Prideful.
Likes: Peace and quiet, Nighttime, nature. Grilled fish, sakè, beer.
Dislikes: Onions, red wine, strong ale, crowded places.
Unique laugh: Pfft-heheheheh...
Hometown: Shinryoku Village:
- Spoiler:
Shinryoku Village is the only settlement located on Hoshima Island, a relatively small Spring-type patch of land southeast of Wano in the new world. A peaceful place, outside its civilized confines there is only untamed greenery bristling with life. The village is built on the rocky terrain surrounding at the island volcano's basin, looking over a shallow lagoon. Best known for supplying high quality food and spices due to the rich volcanic soil, fish and fruits in particular, the island enjoys temperate climates and calm seas all year round. The island volcano is active yet dormant, with no risk of eruption outside occasional recurring ash plumes which is highly beneficial for farming.
Similarly to Wano, the whole island is mostly traditionalist and conservative of its culture. Outsiders are limited to the lower districts, while the residents and inhabitants occupy the higher spaces, depending on their caste. Shirogane has its own albeit small samurai peacekeeping force rather than rely on Marines to keep itself safe from attacks, but the low criminal rate has them mostly concentrated in the lower levels where outsiders and islander conduct business. A secret shinobi force is also present, but is rarely seen as it mostly only works as a royal guard of sorts for the noble and the wealthy.
Personality: Yugo has always been the calm, silent type who prefers sticking to the sidelines of smaller groups of people. Not much of a conversation starter, any kind of public speaking and he soon starts tripping on his own words.
While his dislike for being put on the spot does make him feel slightly awkward when first approached, he tries to remain somewhat friendly towards anyone he meets. Moreover, he still very much yearns to surround himself with few trusted friends he can open up with no matter the circumstances and have a group of confidants he can rely on. Usually not very prone to anger, he still is rather explosive in his outbursts in the rare case of one of them does indeed happen.
If anything, he is a very dedicated, hardworking person as well as someone who would never go back on his words, whatever that might entail. As someone who rarely lies, another would-be fault of his is saying things without much sugarcoating, which might end up having him come across as blunt or insensitive in some situations even when it is not his original intention. Finally, he's a tinkerer at heart who much rather solve problems empirically by getting his hands dirty and creating his own solutions instead of relying on luck, chance or higher powers. Brooding over problems was never his thing.
He's unlikely to engage in battle or show off his Logia powers, due to the nature of the element he possesses and the widespread damage it can cause he acutally restrains himself a lot and tries his best to avoid collateral damage. Thus, he looks more to use his mercury powers in clever and unique ways other than the standard overpowering strategy most other Logia would most probably use.
- History:
Yūgo has lived most of his early life in the sheltered confines of Shinryoku Village. He wasn't born rich but was the son of Kūga Shirogane, a Hoshima shinobi guard at the service of one of the more wealthy families on the island. As such, his circumstances were quite comfortable. Due to his father's ties with the Ys Artia bloodline, Yūgo would grow up roughly at the same time as the Ys Artia heir. The two would grow to be pretty close and share most of their time being up to no good.
In the early teen years, Yūgo would begin training with the other younglings set on the path of becoming Hoshima's new generation of Shinobi and Samurai peacekeepers. He would recieve basic education as well as lessons in Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu and Iaijutsu which would serve as a base to which he would build his fighting style on. The young boy was gifted in the shinobi arts but by no means a prodigy and the following years had him mature an interest from the world outside the island which would slowly push him further from tradition. From a very young age he had always seen ships coming and going from the market district. He had seen the weirdest people speaking the weirdest tales, each one making him more and more drawn to vising other places. He would also spend a good amount of times exploring the forests outside the village, seeing as he was too young to be able to travel. Not to mention his duties as as a Shinobi guard.
Graduating at now nineteen years old, Yūgo would begin working as Kaito Ys Artia's personal shinobi guard, though it was clear that while adept at his job his heart wasn't in it. He still longed to explore other places. Kaito knew this (having shared a lot of days with Yūgo and seen his friend's interest for exploring and is curiosity towards the great beyond first hand) and thus decided to release Yūgo from his duties as a bodyguard, planning instead to have him realize his dream of travelling the world by assigning him to guard one of the bigger Ys Artia trade vessels.
Three more years would pass and Yūgo would find his new job quite up his alley. While he was mostly travelling between a few points, he was still able to sate his curiosity for diffent places, as well as picking up hunting as a hobby and as a way to earn a little more money on the side. Yet everything would change one faithful day. A normal return journey would go awry. While Hoshima's placid weather was nothing to be afraid of, the Grand Line was unforgiving. A rather heavy lightning storm wrecked the ship and sunk the vessel. Most of the crew perished, but Yūgo managed to survive by fate or some other miracle.
He was now left with nothing to his name and was stranded somewhere in the North Blue, with no means to return to Hoshima. Thus his new journey began...

This is an interesting choice for a backstory. Based on what I'm reading here, I don't see any reason beyond wanderlust for Yugo to not want to return to Astera ASAP. But, maybe wanderlust is all the reason he needs to go on adventures in the Blues.
I liked the description and image choice for Astera (even if the name did make me cringe just a little).
I'm ready to approve it once you fill out some of the missed fields: Hair Style, Main Traits, Likes, and Dislikes.
